I now need a lower rad hose and while looking at the bike, I see there is a thermostat housing and bypass hose but the hosing is empty.
I suppose the other owner took the thermostat out?
Should I find a new thermostat?
Should I get rid of the bypass and run no thermostat?
I should mention, I may run this as a snow bike.

I did took it completely off...just make sure you warm the bike up before riding expecially if you riding bellow 0 ...after that will be just fine

Ps. With or without it's always good to warm the bike before a ride

I think a thermostat is good if you are to drive in minus degC and in deep snow. Where I live bikes without thermostat struggle in the winter as the engine cool down too much.

Thermostat is not only to keep it warm, It also keeps the coolant cool. By slowing the flow it will allow the coolant to cool in the rad. When free flowing it can cause overheating condition. It is always best to run a thermostat. Just ensure the thermostat is in good working order. Even on those hot days in the summer the thermostat will close and allow extra cooling of the hot coolant in the rad then re open to allow it to pass.

Thermostat ordered.
Needed a lower rad hose as well.
Spent some time at the auto parts store and found a bypass hose that will work. $10
Hoping to get dirty this week!
