the lineweaver cam LX2

Dale, the folks at megacycle cams are indeed nice people,I had a cam done there this past winter, when I called to check on its progress the lady on the phone wanted to talk about her auntie who grew up in Nova Scotia.I wish they would step into the internet age and electronic banking, they are a little old school, nevertheless they they are honest people and do excellent work.
Is the LRX2 cam designed for all the engines(400-650).Would you recommend it for a 02 FC470 that is to be used for trail riding?....nsman

Hi Nsman,
Jim Dour is a credentialed engineer and is quite possibly the finest cam grinder on the planet. Barbara Dour has forgotten more about camshaft design than most will ever learn. In my book they are the dynamic duo and I am proud to count them amongst my friends.

The LRX2 is a very user friendly camshaft and applicable to all displacements.

Note:
One must insure proper timing and minimum valve to piston clearance with said camshaft.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dale

Hey felow Husabergafiles,
I have read this thread and also the information pertaining to cams in the doc. Im a bit confused and need clarification.
I have a 05 fs650e, I asume My motor has what the doc refers to as the 08 cam (is that cam 08 not to be confused with the year 08)? seems it links to this thread and all the posts in this thread are dated 05 and the doc says all new 650's have the 08 cam.
But it also states that the 08 cam is very similar to lineaweavers LRX2 cam and the LRX2 cam eases load on the valve train by less agressive movement of the valves and eliminates valve train noise, but my valve train screams like banchee....... so im thinking i cant have a 08 cam in my 05 650 berg?

08 is the code of the cam and nowt to do with the year otherwise as you can imagine you would not be reading this thread which started 3 years ago!

you'll still have an '08' cam and you may need to check for rocker arm wear, follower bearing wear, and even the tensioner itself. OEM gear is never quite though.....

regards

Taffy

Hey there d413,

There is very little in common between the 08 and the LX2 camshaft! They have very different profiles indeed. In we are to measure similarity, the LX1 and the 08 are most similar in terms of power out put but also very different in profile. The lx cams have a convex ramp the husaberg oems, 53, 55, 08 all have concave ramps making them far more aggressive on the entire valve train. As you assumed, the 08 is part of the part number.

So, if you're looking to swap out your 08, then the like for like change is the lx1, unless you are riding with a enduro exhaust system where you would need the lx2. If you have a straight through exhaust system, the lx1 is fine.

Hope this helps,
Simon

Re: the lineweaver cam LX2 (NEED ADVISE ON AN 05 650 REBUILD

hello. I recently bought a Husaberg FS 650, the engine had problems with overheating when I disassembled the engine, and before that was already taken apart a few times and changed in the head gasket and the head is planed on a lathe, the piston is in poor condition, has klipnjaca Luft, the crankshaft bearings are not good, let the rubber valves, phase chain was stretched, the camshaft bearings are from an unknown producer, little bearing on the seesaw is not just poured it all in all, lose all ...... i ordered the necessary parts,,, i ordered all new except valves and transmissions. Does someone can help me on what needs to be careful when assembled, the tolerance that I hold, is there still the engine of some problems that can be removed before the assembly on .... how many valves are to be changed? motor is 2005 years old .. the chassis number and engine number VBKHUA4085M784711 582 005 518

you need to start a new thread my new friend!

I can help you with any parts you need. what a shame you didn't ask us here before you spent a lot of your money....

regards

Taffy

The problem is that I am from the Republic of Serbian,,, so here it is hard to find, all these parts are costing me 1200 will be .... if someone can now help in preparation of machinery,,,,, and whether this engine has problems with overheating at all?
