I know a guy that is riding on one with no problems, but can't garantee anything. You have my opinion in the previous post.
If you go that way you might try to do something like this:

This post has jumped from the original place, so my answer doesn't make much sense.
On the other post what I've said was that there are reports that the electrex makes peaks of power that can burn your CDI, that is why I've sent you that doc.
I also have reports of members that they are using them without problems, and almost everyone says the bike starts better that the original. I've also had informations that they weren't much reliable, but can't confirm.
On my 400 I'm running on a sparks one, and it works very well, but they also don't last forever.
Last, I don't think that the condition of your stator is a problem to sparks, he has some work allready done.
Could you take a more detailed pic of your stator ?

obviosly this stator is dead i could see by the pics im just curiuose as to how this damage happend (did u do it or is it heat damage) as i rewind sem and iv never seen a stator look that bad before

I know that if you use myself or sparks he has enough spares to rebuild it for you. chopped wires, burnt coils etc. none are insurmountable as there are many that get scrapped and others repaired from the pool of spares.

Oh, and regarding the Electrex stator the missing diode is not only the problem they suffer from.

Taffy for ever the jester lol, yes the other problem is poor quality enameled wire, they suffer from shorted turns, this leads to a low output voltage from the source coils.
Don't get me wrong I'm not slagging them off just telling it the way it is.
