So at least i understanded that way from Owners Doc did not read about different gear cut 8O , i hope it will not be noise.

Just looked at the old and new gears and they look the same :?

I believe you will find out how it is,and I hope you will tell us was it success or not?
And Merry christmas :)

i did a new thread about 18 months ago whereby i had chased that high pitched noise and found out that it was the freewheel inside the sprague? but there is a part of me that thinks it might have been the starter clutch?

I doubt i could find it again though....

Finally started my bike after small repairs , and iipee it is whining like hell 8O .
I am  at my self that i ordered the 2004 parts for my 2001 berg. Will try to install 2004 sprague in to 2001 gears and test the results maybe it will not whine that bad as now.

if it whines like an air raid siren it could be about to break! there is a 2002 freewheel you can get, maybe that is what you should have ordered?

I checked the sprague and it came out that i assembled freewheel bad
After reinstalling it correctly bike is just sounding like it was before , bit noisy gears work

Good to know it works after all:) now its my turn to order bunch of parts...
Did you notice what is the difference between old and new? bigger sprague or more elements maybe?

They look exactly the same , just order the free wheel if it slipping.
I have mixed the parts also and no annoying sounds came out.

Ok,thanks,saves some money;)
Ill try if single valve springs will make it easier(much lower tension over the nose) to turn over.It already has newer(is there single -02 engine that still has original?) cam

Starter problem haunts me again today first it started to be noise from the clutch cover then it sounded like it jammed or wiped i took off clutch cover and all seems to be ok.
I watched the video from first post ,and i have noticed that my TQ limiter wont stay in place when i hit starter button. It,s even hard to keep it in place by hand it just jumps out :?
Maybe it,s the starter motor alignment foult (installed R6 starter motor)

Any help?

your English is good but i just can't understand what you mean not what you say? are you saying that the freewheel jumps upwards and out or that it simply spins freely?

No not the free wheel ,the solid TQ limiter it jumps out of the place when i start with E start without clutch cover like on the video, and it,s hard to keep it in place when it speens.
Bike starts on E start normally but today something has rubbed for a moment in the starter "system" when the bike was on.

I call the silver solid gear inside the sprague the freewheel. it sits on the clutch basket yes?

look, i sound impatient because I can't follow you. the sprague bearing gets square faces on each roller and they have then had it. the starter clutch in that video is fine it is the sprague that is spinning.

the sprague bearing is weak in grip. it is weak because of the spring being useless. then you heave the wear problem I talk of.

the ideal answer is to fit the new spring to a new bearing. if the starter clutch breaks at 25Lb/Ft + then you are good to go. even if the inside wall of the outer gear is rough you will be OK.

an '01/'02 sprague makes a howling noise and the '03 appears to get rid of it. but I can't tell the difference between half the bloody gears so who is to really know!

Taffy
