Just been speaking to the Guy that done the work on the bike and he weren't to happy at my previous remarks, so much so that he nearly refused to work on the bike, I never said he's name nor will I.
None of what I said was a Lie, I got the bike back and as far as I could tell the clutch was not working as it was before, It was him that suggested how to cure it which worked but the chain was slack.

What I will mention is that he done a good job of the engine fixing loads of little things he never told me about before and never charged for ether.

I don't know if he actuarially read this tread or it was relayed to him by someone else, ether way I never intended to slag him off or bring his business into disrespect.

I don't think I would be too welcome back there now for my flippant remark
" I thought this guy who done the work knew what he was doing, Im doing all the work myself next time."
Which in hindsight was a bit hard and inaccurate as he has done more work on the bike and not charged for the labour and it weren't a small job.
So SORRY (you know who you are)

Hell I know this post was finished ages ago, but this site is aimed at helping others. Just like I have received in my short time using this site.
I found this site when I was looking for help on my own 'screeching clutch'.
My 100% cure.
I removed the complete clutch basket and found the two nearest plates to be totally dry and stuck together, the next plate had score marks and was the 'screeching' point.
I simply separated re-oiled and fitted them in the centre of the basket having 'well oiled' plates on the outside.

Ba bum !!
Have a nice day
:p

Best way to stop clutch screeching is to have all the steel plates "glass beaded" with moderate to coarse glass bead media. Once done, the beaded surface will hold substantially more oil, preventing plate to plate sticking and that inevitable screeching you hear as the plates vibrate off one another.....which is also very similar to the sound and the reason why some disk brake assemblies will screech because the backing against the hydraulic puck is not properly lubed. If not abused, this glass beading method will actually last quite some time....actually until the steel plates wear completely smooth again.

You can also have the steel plates "shot peened", but that is usually overkill and may change the shape/dimensions of the steel plates if too much air pressure....or too coarse of shot peening media is used.

Warm the engine and hold in the clutch seems to cure it most of the time.
