Riding areas in Wales and England

Hello all!

Last week, I was packed, bike loaded and ready to experience the unbridled fun of Moab, unfortunately, on March 5th I received a call that my Dad had passed away. I flew back home to Wales, where I am helping my Mother out for a few weeks.

Question to the Brits: where can I ride? Is it acceptable behavior to try to rent a bike (a Husaberg?) and all the requisite gear? I am in mid-Wales (Builth Wells), but I will also be over in Ely visiting my sister, so any and all points in between would be viable.

It would be nice to spend a day on the trails, just to clear my head. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Get yourself a copy of TBM (Trail Bike Magazine) from a newsagent it`s a little mag A5 size. There are loads of ads in for companies you can go riding with, bike and gear all in with hire price. I am sure there will be some set-ups not far from you.

Thanks, I will look for that magazine. The only mag I have found so far is Dirt Bike Rider, and that was not very helpful.

the TBM magazine is available with perseverence. problem is that they are a small independant mag and the big brothers hog the shelves in our most famous shop "W H Smiths". builth wells should be right in the middle of the riding heartland though!

cypher is one of our few welsh regulars.

i'd be delighted to try and help you with a ride if i can. ely in cambridgeshire, right?

let me know when you're coming and i'll check for feasability ok? what gear, if any, did you bring and how much do you weigh/size of feet are you?

Thanks for the info. I am driving up to Little Downham (near Ely in Cambridgeshire) tomorrow and I plan to be there until Monday; then off to Suffolk for a day and back to Wales on Tuesday.

I did not bring any gear...I just jumped on a plane. I'm 5' 11", 200#, Size 10 Boots (44)

give me a call on 0795 1010 542 or if it's this evening up to 11pm uk time - 01353 723883. i've found a katoom 520 and we have all the gear for you. hope a VERY early start sunday suits, say 6.30am? as it's mothering sunday here and i've got a family dinner at 3pm.

there are loads of byways around little downham. i can discuss the rest when you call.
