Stripping this 4681 rear shock, and the 22mm piston rod nut is proving very difficult to remove. There is no damage to the shaft threads. On top of the nut either side of the rod close to the threads is a small indent, it also looks like its had green loctite on it. So my question, is it safe to heat the nut as it so close to the piston etc.
Thanks for any help.

Hi there.
I think you have to grind that nut off. :(
You can try to heat it a bit, use that thing between your ears an take it careful.

Good luck to ya.

Sounds like the same "crimp nut" as used on the 5018s.
Havent seen the need to grind one yet- they're not the cheapest parts around when KTM Australia are selling them.........dont seem to damage threads on removal and subsequent reuse

Magnusson's advice re heat is very valid- strip the o ring and the piston band from the piston first too as a precaution.
