I have an 02 FX470e, and was wondering what you guys recommend for oil. I know the manual says 5w50, but that stuff has been a pain to find. I have quite a few friends with KTM's that said that the full synthetic oils had been really dragging down their tranny performance. Just thought I would see what the "experts" were running.

And here we go again!!! :argue: I have run almost every brand of synthetic as well as Delo. It just does not seem to make a difference. If you change your oil every to every other ride like I do you might as well run the Delo as Dale suggests.

i sure like the delo! i couldnt afford $10 a liter for maxima 5w50 so i went to walmart and got a gallon of delo for $5! thats like 4 oil changes for half the regular price of one.

I bought a 20 litre drum of Delo400 this morning & it cost $80 ozzie. That sure is more than $5 US for 3.9 litres. Does that sound like the right price for it in Australia or did I get ript?

We don't get Delo here! Is it a motorcycle oil designed for use with a wet clutch? Synthetic? How often do you change the filter?

Thanks for the advice

LuKe
The Local Caltex servo that has a fairly significant lube section attached to it. They stock 44s of some oil types, but I don't think they are a wholesaler. I figured they would be fairly straight with pricing.

Caltex has the worst sales network I have seen. You can find the products on the web site but nowhere can you find where to buy them! After getting put through to some poor engineer bloke in Sydney I got what was supposed to be the number of the wholesaler in Newcastle. The number just rings out.

Biggish
You are goint to crap when you hear it is actually intended for use in high speed diesels. The specs show it to be the bees knees but.

It always depresses me the amount we pay for fuel and oil over here :( .
I've just bought 25ltrs of Rock Oil fully synthetic 15w40 race oil (which I also use in my H*nda 600 race bike) for £125, which works out at US$37 per US gallon! Moreover Shell Optomax fuel (which is about 98 octane (RON)) is now 85p/ltr (US$5.71/USgallon) 8O

castrol syn tec 5w-50 $5 qt. @ meijers. Change it every ride longer than 3 hours. I also have used maxima 5w50 but @ $13 qt. it's kind of pricey to be changing it every ride?

hey guys i use motul 300v competition oil 15 w 50 2L costs me $40 aus but hey i know its good oil and it smells nice and well hey as im finding out nothing for husaberg are cheap lol

I also use castrol syn-tec 5-50. But if I was going to use a non synthetic oil, I would use rotella. That is what I use in my car, truck, and farm tractors. And in my opinion it is one of the best oils on the market. But, what do I know! :?

I work for a distributor so I can get a really good deal on the Maxima. I was mostly curious about the tranny. But, it seems that everyone is in agreement that as long as you change it often it doesn't matter what you use. Sorry, Berger, didn't know this was a sore subject. I was just curious. I have had the bike for two years and have always run Castrol Syntex 5w50 because it was cheap, just now that I can afford to buy the other stuff I wanted to see if some of the other stuff would make a difference. Thanks for the help. You can always count on this site to get quick answers.
