Does anyone know if there's a life time oil filter available for the berg or a cheaper after market one?

i believe scotts makes the SS filter

Yes, Scotts makes one. I have one.

I believe one of the KTM filters also works, and they are often cheaper than the Berg equivelent.

yes, the larger of the two filters that the KTMs take is the same as the berg filter. the Hi-Flo number is HF155, thats what i use.

will this filter fit a 99 model .......?

also how often should i change it .........?

cheers doug

I use a K&N oil filter in my '99 FE400. It is the performance gold series part #kn-155. They are between $7 and $8 generally.

i think the KN and Hi Flo are made by the same manufacturer, and the HF is cheaper.
