oh and another problem lol i reserve doesnt work

my bike 99 fe600 has the reserve under the carb s it reqires a fuel pump and im not sure if it is working it is somhow run off the vacuam on the inlet runner its a little alloy box does any one know how this unit works or if they are a common problem

The pump you refer to dumps fuel from the low right hand side of the tank up into the left side that is higher than the carby allowing flow through the cock into the carby. By doing this the bulk of the fuel mass is kept lower on the bike, and there is more space left up high where the tank would normally be to run the oversized top frame spar that doubles as the airbox.

If the pump stops working the bike will still go OK when filled up but will only use the top few litres of fuel out of the tank before it runs out.
