Some might of seen this but for those who have not www.hydedevlopments.co.za make a plastic sump guard for the Berg ,I have seen their products around and they don’t look too bad, could do with some careful de-burring to improve the end product though, The plastic is about 3mm thick and the other nice thing about this is that it wont retain nearly as much heat as the aluminium one .

the skid plate does look good. blocks off the frotn to prevent mud build up and tucks in nicely. plus as its in black would finish my bike off.

just looking at this again has anyone had some experience with plastic sump guards?

i ask this as i took my 5mm aluminium skidplate off today to do some routine wrk, and there's a few big dents in it.

how do the plastic guards in general hold up.

I've got it and it works fine! Fits well also. Plastic is in my opinion better than Alu because it doesn't dent. Just scratches and glides well over rocks, trees etc.

On the other hand: Doesn´t aluminium withstand way more impact before it starts to bend? I don´t mind having dents in my skidplate that´s what it´s made for;
I don´t want dents in my frame/engine :shock:
plastic is fine in sand, but as soon as there are rocks - I want metal under my engine :pimp:

Ever heard of a Motorcylcle with an Plastic frame or engine?

yes , Steve Henge won the Baja 100 on a plastic skid plate, my wife (the Elf)runs one on her 450x, if it will survive her than it is gold in my book
