I've bought myself a lovely 05 FC 550 4 speed in what appears to be lovely original condition and was wondering who else out there owns one or has owned one

I do to but it's a six speed I think just got it needs very little work. Sorry its a FE550

quite rare over here. the tractor of tractors!

welcome to UHE

regards

Taffy

It is an interesting bike but not without the typical husaberg niggles. Thanks taffy It appears that way, I can't find another anywhere. It's my first time on a 4 stroke so I Thought why not pick something different maybe I'll find out soon why nobody bought them

The fe 550 was close second to this I would like to try the 550 engine with the 6 speed

its very easy to make it into a 6-speed. just check the parts book. one day you'll need an engine rebuild and just allocate about £100-£200 for the gears and selector drum.

That is fantastic ! When I'm sick of the 4 speed I'm definitely going to give this a try has anyone got a modern berg ? How do these stack up against them ?

The 550 motor is f..ing awesome. I love these bikes. I've got an 2010 FE 570 bling horse and I'm still very much yearning for a 550!

The 6-speed box is quite good - maybe one of the best dirt bike gearboxes? Any objections? Very useful ratios and spread and they seem reasonably strong - but you can probably do a lot with 4 speeds with this motor!

Just making sure aha and I agree the motor is pretty amazing with the 4 speed but I do feel like I want more gears. I may have to get myself a 570 eventually are you enjoying yours, what sort of speeds can you get on one of those ?... While I'm here Im not sure if i need to do something to the air filters I'm buying but so far I've purchased two and neither are the correct size air holes are too small and filter is 2 or so inches shorter, can't see the cage stretching it that much and all the ones i see online are exactly the same, don't fancy getting another dud can I upload pictures here to show you guys

The 570 is a quite different bike from the classic pre'09 bikes. A different design philosophy in some respects, you could say! Plusher, smoother. Strong power, still scary, but more polished. For better or worse :)

If the 70-degree 570 is, say, the V8 AMG Mercedes or Porsche GT2? GT3? of dirt bikes, the bikes until 2008 are maybe a model of Ferrari. Early model. Raw, noisy driving machine - a different sensation. The newer ones have some more weight, more "design", a bit of plushness. Softer suspension, a little more lively/agile/twitch handling character as set up stock. Still a scary fun machine :) The car comparison only a very coarse approximation though. Do try to get a ride in on the newer bikes if you have the opportunity, if only to feel the difference. I have a 570 and want a 550 (or 650). If I had a 550 or 650, I'd want a 570 :)

Think you hit the nail on the head with that description! I do like the old raw bikes but I've never really ridden any modern dirt bikes to make a comparison so I think I'll have to give some a test drive problem I have is there is absolutely no husaberg dealers or any support for them close by so do you guys do meet ups in the UK ?
