I just seen in the March 2007 issue of Dirt Rider an ad for Dixie Dist. for Gas Gas and Husaberg . No more BMG ?

Does anyone know if this Dixie Dist. is the old Gas Gas dist., the Don Knight family ?

BP

BMG owns Dixie. My hunch is that there will be quite a tax savings for BMG by putting the Husaberg label under an American company (that is owned by a Canadian company). But that is just a guess

Gentlemen

Dixie Sales is a sister company to BMG. They have been handling the parts distribution duties since day one of BMGs involvement in the USA, so that in nothing new. Partsguy is still very much involved, in no different capacity than before.

Fred Hoess will handle east coast sales and whatever comes his way in racing. I cannot speak for the finer details of his job description, I can say that he is good man and has a wealth of experience in marketing offroad motorcycles. Fred and I spent the last 5 days together, and I was unaware of his experiences with Huquarna and Ducati.

This is certainly no time to think that the sky is falling.

cheers

Lee

"Partsguy is still very much involved, in no different capacity than before"

Why did "Parts Guy" use your screen name to give the following state of the union speech?

Is Parts Guy no longer a UHE member?

What exactly is your official role regarding Husaberg?

I am aware Dixie sales was involved from the very beginning as all of my BMG parts orders had their return shipping address.

For clarification please be so kind as to define "Sister Company".

Thanks,
Dale

Time for me to come out of the weeds. First of all want to wish Brett all the best, in his futrue endevors. 'nuff said.

There are many issues that I have read about over the last few days that I would love to comment on, and bring fact to, but fiction makes for better reading and entertainment for us all. If anyone wants to pursue with me personally great give me a call or send me an email my contact info is below.

For the last 4 years I have been part of the team, and have sat beside Josh in many factory meetings and the most important meeting, the original one at the KTM Offices in the US which brought Barrett into the mix. I am, and have been for the last 18 mths, been directing the business for Husaberg and Gas Gas for Barrett Marketing Group and now Dixie Sales. I been involved in the decision process for the rights and the wrongs but for the most part have felt that we as group moved the Husberg line forward in North America and now I look forward to moving the product forward with Dixie Sales. I am excited about the possibilities for our product and look forward to supporting the dealers and the customers of this brand. I am looking to hire a dedicated person who will bring enthusiam and knowledge to the Husaberg family on the West Coast, however until that time all dealers have been notified that I will be their contact.

Wishing everone success and goodwill for the coming year.
Thanks for Fryguy for letting me use his handle to post.

Roy was using my laptop, could not remember his password and I offered 'my space'.

As far as the details of the Dixie/BMG relationship, I don't know much and, frankly I don't care. Googling the two names will likely get you all you need to know.

My role with Husaberg, as it has been for the last two years, has been sales rep for western Canada. I have tried to leave my activity on this site casual and of the enthusiast nature and wish also to keep it that way.

regards

Fry,
"Sister Company" peaked my curiosity and from your statement I thought you would have a definition. In any event, thank you kindly for the prompt reply.

Well let's hope going forward that there are some east coast sales as there's absolutely no Husaberg presence here in the Northeast which is Fred's home turf!
The lone dealer in NJ is hardly what I'd called an active dealer or a good representation for the Berg brand.Hope Fred gets us a couple of dealers that will represent us easterners as well as Boss,Bike Barn & Motoxica does you westerners.

I used the dealer locater for the 250 mi. radius from north central MA.
No dealers of Husaberg. However there were 5 Gas Gas dealers listed and I know of a 6th that was not listed. Maybe something will change in time.

Guys we are working hard to build the brand in the east, I think especially with the FE450 and the odd, 380 we have a great potential for building the business. We have been getting some great press of as late, there is work on new development of product, Husaberg is moving forward Onward and upward. Fred is a great addition to our cast as will compliment the rest of the players.

We are on the hunt in the West for a rep, and I have been contacted by many promising candidates. Stay tuned on this. Also I have had many positive conversations with dealers in the West who are happily doing business with Dixie.

Dixie is a positive move, the Pres. and CEO are enthusiasts and they are very supportive and committed to seeing the Motorcycle Division go forward and flourish. Again we have a great product and a great product. We are truly excited about the future.

well heck with the current state of the east the playing field is wide open as the lack of representation is frightening especially considering that Dixie is in the east & there's such a good group of dealers out west who seem to be doing all the selling & servicing!
Good luck to Fred & everyone.

It's a catch 22 down here in the south! I get a lot of interest at the races, but don't have a dealer to send them to, we had a dealer trying them and he says he gets nobody interested! What we need is a BOSS! A dealer that races to! I saw his name is cycle news for 3rd overall at a cross country race in OR, good job. I'll be going to do my part this weekend for the pre race to the nationals (Sumter SC), I have heard all the big dogs are going to be there to get ready for TX. This will be the first race on the 380, so I'm pumped!

No doubt they need a dealer who is an enthusiast if they want to succeed.Just stocking the bikes isn't gonna get it done they need someone who is gonna have a couple out there competing to help peek some interest & let folks see first hand that the Berg is a viable alternative.
Racing on sunday helps sell bikes on monday!

roy, to be plausable, do you think you could be a little more circumspect.

on second thoughts, why did i ask for that? stupid me.

sorry. great product. onwards and upwards.

Taffy "onward and upwards" to my 46th birthday (    ) etc etc

I am a new HSB dealer in Ontario, Canada and am very excited to get the brand on the trails and tracks after several years of neglect. I am an enthusiast and very confident in the brand and in my short time as a dealer, I am also confident with the folks at BMG/Dixie Sales.

It isnt going to happen overnight but I look forward to seeing more Bergs on the trails in Ontario within the next few seasons.

Thanks for bringing up the 380. Is there any plan to make the 380 (or 496) production bikes? There seem to be quite a few riders that don't want an MX-inspired 450 enduro bike but don't want a revving 250F either. The 380 seems to sit right in the middle.

love my 06 Fe450e. I'm keeping it. 125 hours, 1 year of ownership. The bike is light, fast and fun.

To my knowledge no plans to produce the 380 as a factory bike. If you speak with Fryguy and Boss and Bikebarn, this kit really makes this bike a great tight trails bike, not to say the 450 is not a great trails bike.

Everyone that has ridden my 496 claims it is the best 4T they have ever ridden, mind these are mainly 2T fans, and my 496 is dialed in. The 496 works well everywhere, but I think it is still too much ot be optimal in tight woods. It seems to me that the 380 would hit a "niche" market and be a 4T alternative to the 250/300 2T, especially for recreational riders (most of the Husaberg buyers). Mind you, I have never ridden the 450 Hbg, just the older 400 and 470, as well as most other brands. Just my 2 cents.
