New 501/550 engine wanted! help!

sent my 2002 fe501s engine in for an overhaul because it STOPed!
everything was destroyed inside, and it needs new everything, piston, bearings, crankshaft + + + ++ +.. total: £2000

So I was looking for an alternative for a rebuild of the engine, and it has come to my attention that many exchanges the 501 engine with a 550 engine...!? easy rebuild? better? any suggestions?

Is it possible to get an around 2004 mod 550 engine for under £2000!!??
Does anyone have one for sale, or know of anyone that could have one!?
anyone know of places to look!? have checked ebay etc... no luck!!

Need help!!!!! Summer is closing fast, and after spending £5000 on the bike, i dont have muck mony left...

anyone!?
 
where you from mr-with-an-unpronouncable-nik?

there is no way that you need to spend £2K. it can be done far cheaper than that. PM me with details of what you need. we can find an engine far cheaper than that!

also, they changed ignition and stuff between 2002 and 2004 so i suggest you look for a pre '04 engine. this will have the SEM ignition on it which isn't at all compatable with the later kokusan ignition.

no way to get it cheaper here in norway.. cause you see, people here are crazy ;-) .. no common sence... me included, paying for the ****, if no other option emerges...

so please ... anyone know of any engines for sale?


can get an 03 650 engine for aprox £1600 .. will this fit like a glove? same electrical wiering etc?
 
yes a 650 engine will bolt straight in!

i beleive though that the header pipes are angled wrong for your taller 650 engine? i have a 650 system i'm about to put on ebay.

£1,600? that's very steep! that means that the rest of the bike broken is pure profit coz the engine alone is worth the £1,600 tops. just MHO!!!!

so you belive that the 650 engine will fit like a dream, all electronics included, exept the exaust pipes, wich has a different angle!?
everything else is the same!? everything? hmm? m?

have to get a hold of an engine... omg
 
If he's still looking for a 501 engine after 4 years I will eat my hat, actually I'll eat my bike, house and children too.
