hello all,

I lost one of my tank inserts that hold my shroud on. does anyone know if I can get a aftermarket insert that will fit?

I have 2011 Husaberg fe570

There are no inserts in the original tank for the shrouds, so you must have a repaired one?

Edit: unless you mean the subframe?

There are some steel inserts indeed in the tank on my 2011 too. I'm not sure they are meant to be removed, i had to work hard and heat it up with a butane lighter to remove one of them with striped threads the other day. My best advice would be to have one machined to be a little pres fit and have it knurled. Then hope it's going to stay there. Might use some epoxy or some other kind of glue to hold it in place too.

Thank you for your reply.

does anyone have a old used tank that is no good. that might be able to salvage a insert from?

Don't know what the inserts are on a Hus tank but are we talking about rivet nuts or blind inserts? If you've lost one then just replace it, you'll need the fitting tool. I've fitted a few to the RGV frame when I've stripped them, not a big job.

the inserts look like a long acorn nut and are molded into the plastic fuel tank.

something like this but the round part is much longer and hex part a lot shorter

Hello Daberg. Unless you are prepping a collectors bike, just get some flange nuts. Install them on the inside of the rad shrouds with lots of Crazy Glue gel type. then put a few more beads of gel all over the flanges. This set up out lasts the shrouds for sure. Do the same with tank mounted nuts. Put a bolt in the nut prior to glueing to protect threads. Or use the real thing of course. For those, high temp silicone everywhere stops them loosening.

This sounds like a job for a nutsert set. There are many different sizes of nutserts.
I have a kit and have expanded many a nutsert into steel or aluminum.
I don't see why they wouldn't work in plastic.

Because it's a blind hole in a plastic fuel tank and that nutserts are made to grab into sheetmetal...

something like this would be more appropriate IF plastic is thick enough

Thanks Ivspeed!!! That worked perfectly. they do not need to be torqued or anything. they just need to keep the shroud on. :)
