I will try to but I have a conflicting race date for that weekend. I may be able to squeak out a friday ride.

My daughter wants to try some of the MRANN Races this year, shes 15 on a TTR125 says she's too big and needs a bigger bike, a Yamaha TTR230 I said when you get better grades and this bike faster I will think about it, "but dad I can't go any faster on this bike!" try shifting out of 3rd like I keep you telling you!. She wants to do the race that weekend but!! maybe next time. Might make the Tankslappers just a long drive!!

Are you still planning on Moonrocks? It's been a bit warmer here lately. But there is still quite a bit of snow. I still have a foot and I'm pretty much the same altitude as the Moonrock parking lot.

I saw your post regarding Yerington (racemarann website). I have never ridden there. But from what I here. It's awsome and there will be little if any snow except for maybe the upper shady sides. AJT was out there most recently. He would have a much better idea of where, what, and how goes on out there. I will tell you that it's about another 1 1/2 hours to Yerington itself from downtown Reno.

I have been riding at Fernley motocross track, which is about 40 minutes East of Reno. They have a big parking lot and a pretty cool (long) sandy track. I usually don't like moto, but this track is about a mile long and fun.

You could also go down to Carson (Prison Hill) and play from there. Moto or trail ride. 40 minutes south of Reno.

I'm planning on heading out to the Nightingale race this Sunday. First race on the Husaberg. After spanking my brother-in-law and his son on their rice burner CRF450's. I'm feeling pretty pumped about the race. Maybe too confident I think!

I hope this helps. If I can give you better info on a particular area, let me know, There is also a "riding " link on

Yerington has been really nice!!!!
I am sure all the snow has melted out there by now, I was out there a few weeks ago and it was very good.

Good luck at MRANN Race, looks like we migth head to Jawbone, never been there and would like to check it out, going to Moonrocks March20-25 kids on spring break.

Making her race on a TTR125 could be considerred child abuse.

Get her a KX100 or KTM105 big wheel, something with decent suspension and brakes. The TTR's aren't well designed and she probably feels unsafe at higher speeds.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I just bought her a new Honda CRF250X, bringing it home tonight, hopefully she can get some good rides in the next month. SUpposed to go to Jawbone this weekend as most of Moonrocks is still frozen especially the north sides of the hills.

Unklemoose, are you interested in adopting a son? :D Boy, she is lucky. The only thing I had to ride at her age, was a Honda Trail 90.

Hey Splat, the TTR125 is a pretty decent bike. I raced my sister's TTR125 in the last Little Polecat Enduro out here. That little 8hp bike passed up dozen or so adult bikes. I was surprised, and learned an interesting lesson that day.

It is all relative. A TTR125 is great compared to bikes of the 80's, but when you compare it to the current selection, there are far better choices.

The CRF250X is a good example of a far better choice.

Too bad the manufacturers don't make a mini thumper with suspension equal to the current 85 cc bikes.

 for a young girl who's been riding a ttr125? umm. hahahahaha. for racing, i'd go with a kx100. it's only 100 lbs lighter than a crf-x. my girlfriend is stoked with the massive power increase and light-years better suspension than the ttr too.

i may swing by moonrocks. or i may just hit the track at fernley. i'll be in reno this weekend to ski a little and to race the mrann race at nightengale on sunday. at least it's warmer there than at my house.

That was my original suggestion before he bought the CRF.

You have to admit, the CRF will have a much more trail friendly powerband. And he suspension will already be pretty close to what she wants for the desert and trail riding.
