magnetic oil plug, little fillings on it,

I've been meaning to check the mains on my '04 FE450, but haven't heard too many horror stories about them going.

Next time someone who knows what they are doing checks theirs, any chance of some pics with some cool arrows and text boxes to explain things for dumb pricks like me?

glad you guys understood what im on about, tried to talk to the missus about C numbers and got that look I give her when she's mumbling something about curtains :D funny thing is most of the guys I ride with are worse! they go on about stickers and the newest crf450

i guess crank welding/balancing/ mains setup needs a new thread too will have to do that before I loose interest in the 628. the 700 kit is going in    8O

Speaking of stickers....hahahaha joke.

Wow 700 that is a big 4stroke motor wat power figure are
you expecting with that?

another question lol, how do you build the motor with .55mm crank float? what you do change to build it like that?
do you run loose fit on the crank, if so what do you do to make it loose? have you had your cases machined and aligned?

how much power? just more, don't care how much really. some of the sand over here makes the 628 feel like a Peewee 50

Ok get hold of a parts manual and a workshop manual free from husaberg.com

study them , there 2 Nj206 bearings as stock mains (look them up on a bearing MNF site for some pics ) and there are shims so you can space things out

if your using balls you can polish the crank journals or hone out the ID of the bearings. there may not be enough room from left to right in the cases for 2 balls then you need to have them machined. the ballbearings need endfloat too, got a message a few months ago a 650 with ball bearing mains killed one, endfloat was under 0.3mm. search ktmtalk for what endfloat to use with balls and the fit between the ID of the bearing and the crank journal.

I use NJ # rollers similar to oem so mine have to be tight on the crank and in the case or the end float will wander.

the alignment of the main bearing tunnel in my cases is fine.

won't make sense to you till you have it apart I'd guess.

heaps of info on ktmtalk regarding ballbearings here's a start http://ktmtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=293702
