I installed the same key on my 2010 FE450. It came with instructions. The instructions were kind of confusing, but with the included photos I figured it out. But mine may have been a little different because I also installed the SicAss blinker kit which included new handlebar switches and changed some of the harness.

I would suggest calling SicAss. Their customer service has been excellent for me.

Where are you going to mount the key? Here is where I put mine. But I had to take it off when I installed a steering stabilizer. So my key switch sits in a box until I find a new place to mount it. If you have a good solution, please let me know.

I don't know if this will help or not. I don't remember what is stock and what is SicAss.

The fat black bundle that makes a loop near the bottom is from the SicAss blinker/horn/light switch. It replaced the stock switch and wire bundle.

Left of the loop is another large bundle with a red wire going up and a green wire going right. The green wire has a tag on it. I believe that is from the key switch. Notice that the red wire goes to a 4 pin connector second from the left on the speedo mounting plate. That connector has orange wires that go down to a free hanging connector which might be the stock connector that used to be in the plate. I am not sure though. But I do remember removing a stock connector from the plate and inserting a SicAss connector. It seems that SicAss provided a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter or something - but maybe that was for the blinker.

Probably not much help. I remember just enough to be dangerous.

well- once i thought about it, it was rather easy. the switch had 4 wires, 1 pair having continuity when the switch was on ignition, and the other having continuity when the switch was off. the pair on ignition i wired inline with a wire from the e-start behind the headlight, the pair with the continuity in off position i wired from the kill switch (yellow with black) behind the light and tied it into a ground wire feeding the headlight. in the end, key on off- no action from e-start... key on position, e-start works and kill switch works as normal and bike will stop running if you switch the key to off while running. Just thought i would throw this out there if anyone is trying to wire in a Keyed ignition switch.

Where are you going to mount the key switch? I think that is the challenge.

It came with a little mounting plate, shaped like a teardrop meets a boomerang. fit perfectly onto the bar clamp bolt

That didn't work for me. I installed Fastway FIT handguards, which replace the handlebar top clamp and use recessed bolts. I could possibly use some spacers and longer bolts, but I fear that would weaken the mount.

could you possibly sandwich the mount or bracket for ignition in between the handlebar mounts- rather than at the top, but in the middle where they come together ( i am possibly way off base here as i don't actually know what your mounts look like)

Switch looks like it fits good.
What is the black round knob thing on the handle bars just to the left of the speedo MrX?

That is his GPS Ram mount. I have the same mount, but I mounted mine further left and then use the 3" bracket to place the GPS just left of the speedo. It works well for me.

MrX's key mount looks good, but I don't think it would work with a steering stabilizer. I wonder if it would if the tear drop bracket were turned outwards. Maybe I will try that. And see if it will sandwich between the brackets as suggested without making the bars too loose.

You may notice I also raised my speedo and moved it forward about 1/4". Forward to provide clearance from the stabilizer mounting bracket, and up so it is easier to see with the raised bars.

I just tried this. It almost works. There is enough space between the top and bottom clamp, but there is not enough clearance between the bolt and the bar. I could grind down the tear drop shaped bracket and make it fit, but I fear it would be really weak.

But I also noticed that with my speedo moved forward there is now room to place the key switch between the bars and the speedo. So I think I will try a longer bolt with a spacer and see if that works. But I need to find a spacer before I can try it.

I changed my mind and decided to grind down the edge of the key mount bracket and sandwich it between the bar clamps. I figured there isn't much stress on a key, so it should be strong enough.

Here is what it looks like:

I recently tried to purchase the KTM 26-201 switch on my 2009 Husaberg from SicAss Racing when Mike replied to me stating that a Husaberg plug-n-play switch is now available, but wasn't yet listed on their site. Looks like it's listed now, check it out here http://sicassracing.com/store/switches/kill_switches/2009-11_husaberg_key_switch.

Just like it says it's a direct plug-n-play solution for 2009-2011 'bergs; installed in 15 minutes on my 2009. Here are some pics:

I fitted a generic ignition switch to a mounting plate held under the LH bar clamp bolt and wired it into the loom behind the light. Whole thing cost less than £15.

So with these key switches, do you still have to 'wake up' the Husaberg electrical system by hitting the E start button? Or does the electrical system kick in, fuel pump prime with a turn of the key switch? I would like to install a on-off key switch that can eliminate the requirement to hit the E start button to make the fuel pump prime itself.

The power relay which switches on the 'ignition' and primes the fuel pump etc. is operated by the output of from the alternator via the voltage regulator/rectifier, hence the need to spin the motor momentarily on the starter (or maybe a bump start) to energise the relay. To provide 'ignition' on/off via a key switch you'd have to hack into the wiring loom, disconnect the feed from the voltage regulator to the power relay and splice in a direct feed to the battery via your new key switch. I thought about this but decided it was too much hassle and provided no real benefit over the OE system which works fine. The key switch on my bike simply immobilises the starter as a basic anti theft measure so no scumbag can jump on, press the starter and ride off, for example while you're inside the filling station paying for the petrol you've just bought!

Pegscraper, can you please tell me the connections you used to wire the switch in? Or is there a connector already in the harness. I'd love to have a key switch for my Berg "Sven" so nobody messes with him! THanks
