Hi,

Have anyone dissembled a –04 engine?
I am a little curious about the numbers written on the gear wheels. I have been informed about quality problem in the KTM gear wheel crankshaft. It seems to be similar in the Husaberg –04. I know a few 550 with broken gear wheel crankshaft. They split in halves. I don’t know why they replaced the gear wheel crankshaft and the clutch hub outer between –01 and –02. It has probably been some problem. Would be interesting to know if the KTM and the Husaberg gear wheel crankshaft are identical. Then you can pick up the parts at the KTM shops as well. This will decrease the stop time for some owners.

People seem to have problem with their fork. I have heard lot of people complain on the –04 fork. It’s too soft and it doesn’t work very well. In the –02 parts manual the part number for FE ends with 42, FC with 44 and FS with 52. I assume this is the spring constant. The rear spring part number is 71-91 for FE and 76-95 for FC. Gives these that the springs are similar in model –02 and –04? The spring constants seem to be equal. In the –02 the shims have similar part number for FE and FC. In the –04 parts manual I don’t know which are the standard set up. The only difference I can see directly is that in –03 the fork name is MXMA 4860-HBG and the –04 name is 4860 MXMA. Can anyone confirm that this is similar fork as KTM use? I haven’t been in the factory myself but one guy said that they pick the parts from the same loading pallet to the Husaberg as the KTM when the bikes come on the line.
In the -02 and -03 I don't know if there is a problem. My works quite well even if Yamaha gets lot of credit.

Will there be any major differences in the next new generation at all?
