Dude, this is a crying shame! WTF are you thinking? do you "Race" or do you just play one on TV? when the heat gets turned up you can't be bothered? It will cost you The parts and the tank and your bike will be better than new. With the exception of the tank which is already money squandered, it can't be much for the parts. you will LOSE YOUR ARSE if you sell it it or part it. :bash:

Thanks , If I was in scotland that bike would be mine . The $ for the shock is steep, plus whatever the exchange conversion rate is & vat .

no vat outside europe. it's a 17.5% tax of the price added at the end. on a £2k bike thats 350 squid!

Taffy

Man i don't believe you want to get rid after such a minor fault... The whole point of owning a berg is having fun maintaining as well as riding...Have a go at least

Sorry to hijack this thread, but i,m going to strip my motor as i have developed a bit of top end noise, what parts should i change as matter of course, seen as the engine is comming out

all bearings , rockers , cam chain , possible valves , inspect piston to bore ... new rings and gaskets and seals .

I hijack this thread also. I have '06 Fe450 with 55 hours on it, quite light hobby enduro driving. Owners manual recommends that engine shoud be stripped down at 60H to change main and balancer bearings and for some other checking. Do all berggers open their engines at this point or is it factory's recommendation for "super-secure-reability"? Is it stupid to move this maintenance a littlebit further, because i have now use for my bike and don't want to keep it in garage for long time.. It's almost summer :) Engine has not any extra mechanical sounds and runs great. I have allways used best oil quality and changed filter and oil around 10-12H's.

What do you think?

run it till the winter no trouble. just keep changing the oil!

regards

Taffy

change the oil and keep an eye on the magnetic drain plug , any sign of metal ... thats the time to have a look .
otherwise change everything at 150 hours

OK, thanks taffy and whosahberg! I got littlebit nervous about that magnetic plug because there have been some tiny tiny flakes on it while changing oil. I though it was normal, for example my DR Suzuki had always whole punch more of it in drain plug. Where can it be from? Transmission, cluch, cam chain, bearings? As taffy said, maybe I'll strip it next winter..
