Hey folks.
Just found Y'all.
Looking to buy a 2009 FE650E.
I'm in Canada and I'm have never seen or heard of these things before.
Anybody tell me anything... good or bad?

Husaberg 650s are amazing machines!

There's no such thing as a 2009 650. The last model year was 2008. It's probably an '08. We can probably tell if given a picture.

I have not had a close look at it yet.
I'm kind of scared because of how scarce they are up here.
Do I have any reason to be nervous?

The graphics on the rear plastics are of an '07 - compare with: http://moto.zombdrive.com/images/husaberg-fe-650-e-2007-5.jpg

The 2007 and 2008 models are actually very desirable.

The 650 is more reliable than it is sometimes said to be. They seem to have gotten a bad rap because of design kinks around model year 2000, and also because of a period where at least some crankshafts were assembled with incorrect tolerances which load the main bearings ('07 won't have that issue). Parts are still available. When and if parts do dry out, there are ways to have parts custom made in today's world of CAD and CNC.

The endless linear power is simply amazing. I love the stable handling.

It will require mechanical intimacy, and regular but not excessive maintenance like changing oil and adjusting valves - work which I find very pleasant and totally worth it.

I own a DR-Z400 and a later-generation Husaberg 570. I live in a place where it's kind of hard to get parts. I have read everything I can on this generation of Husabergs and have sworn an oath to myself that I will someday own a 550 or a 650 :) If that puts things in context :)

Best dirt bike ever built bar none. If it's your thing you will love it so much you will do whatever it takes to keep it running. It's the thinking man's KTM. Very reliable, but can be a bit finicky. I love mine and will ride it untill I can no longer throw a leg over it. Have no interest in upgrading. But you'll find most early Husaberg enthusiasts tend to be a bit like that.

If however you just want something to thrash and lean against the shed wall till next time, maybe not.

Well ok then. If this thing looks good, I'm buying it!!
I kind of lik e oddball things as long as they are performers!
Thanks tourist and hoosaberg!
I'll report back when this thing is on my truck!

Ok. Well it's mine! Sadly it will have to sit on my truck for a week while I'm at work.
Have plans to take it out to the mountains for a test run. It's a little rough, will need some wiring cleaned up but runs well.
On thing is strange. The front fender really rubs on the frame backbone. I've read where some fender mounting washers may not be installed correctly?
Now, tell me about the starting procedure that works best. Choke, decomp, hot start....
So many starting aids!

Look in mechanical, about 2/3 down. Starting procedure something something... What I wrote down it really works for me. Got it off u tube.

I agree with all that, as far as a endure o bike goes I don't think a better bike has been made yet, it has a kick start that's the work of the Devil being on the wrong side that I find hard to start with knee braces on.

To start it I just open the choke give it one twist of throttle open and then shut and then one kick at the right position or hit the starter and she fires up instantly.
A mate with the 650 uses the decompress leaver to start it but I don't.

I have had times when I thought f:eek: I am going to come off, when coming into deep 4x4 ruts at high speed coming around a corner directly and it's amazing the feel it gives back of confidence, it's not a bike that you lean over so much but use the rear wheel to steer and sit more up right like on it.
The bike likes to sit up straight, a mate with the 650 had a run in with some clown and came off in the mud, but the bike just kept going directly ahead, he was like  come back you :tongue3:::roll:
