Hi,

what for? I don´t understand what you´re aiming at?
What have you done to keep more oil? A secondary oil reservoir?

greetings

hribman

Husaberg makes or used to make a 3/4 gallon reserve tank that fits under the seat.

I HAVE NOTICED ON LONG TRAIL OR SINGLETRACK RIDES I SEEM TO GO THRU OIL... NOT MUCH BUT ENOUGH TO WORRY MYSELF ABOUT SO I FOUND A PLACE ...JOE RACER PRODUCTS ....THAT MAKES A EXTRA RESIVOUR THAT GOES REPLACES THE OLD FILTEER COVER AND TUCKS UP AROUND THE RADIATOR....THE FUEL IS SO I CAN GET MORE THAN 90MILES BEFORE I FILL UP

This is the cooler I presume

It’s no secret the KTM RFS has an oil capacity and cooling problem. This leads to premature clutch failure and rapid engine wear.

The JoeRacer RFS Oil Cooler will greatly extend the engine and clutch life on the KTM 4-strokes. It is well understood that high oil temperature is the biggest single contributor to engine wear and premature component failure. If you Dual Sport the Big KTM’s the gear box is prone to rapid wear from the freeway miles as the oil can not get cooled and will loose as much as 60% of its lubricity.

Using the second filter location, which feeds the pump that sprays the gearbox. The oil temperature is 30 degrees cooler then when its remains in the sump. This keeps the gearbox, especially the 5th and 6th gears (which are thinner by 20% then 1st-4th gears) at an acceptable temperature, I have seen on my KTM oil in the 275-300 deg. F. Most motor oils start to burn at the 260. Deg F range.

The main reason KTM did not recommend the EXC 400-525 for a dual sport bike is the oil temp issue with the gearbox, and the gears running so hot at freeway speeds the hard face starts to chip. The oil cooler-reservoir removes this liability. This kit installs in about the same time it takes to change the oil on your motor. Tucks out of the way in the air stream to the radiator. If you have ever had the clutch feel fade due to the plates warping from the oil temp getting too high. And had lost the clutch on a rocky up hill single track, then you need this cooler.

ASMACSBOB I e-mailed Joe Racer and they were not sure the cover will fit a Berg. Did the KTM one they supplied bolt right up or did you make or have a cover made?

Edit. I just reread the thread and got ahead of myself here. You didn't say that you had actually installed the oil cooler on your bike. Sorry.

we have the aux. tank in stock that Berger mentioned in case you are ready for the real long trail rides.they will only fit bikes that are year 2000 or newer .dan.
