Hi everyone,

First post here...bare with me, english is not my first language.

Here is my problem, I don't have confidence in my FE570S

Here is why...

First problem/issue...The bike (brand new) stalls often and can't restart. Pushing on the e-start but nothing...just like a dead battery. Try a few times and then fired up! But I couldn't help myself thinking that it will happen far in the woods...and no kickstart...problem!

Second issue...fuel pump went dead after only 30 hours...KTM replaced it free but will it last???

Third...the tail light cracked when it got caught on the rear tire...I don't know what Husaberg (KTM) was thninking when designing this bike???

Fourth...The headlight bulb blows often. Learn it the hard way coming home in the dark. 40 hours on the bike and it's my fourth bulb. Did not blow a fuse a single time though.

Fifth...the bike overheat like hell. Ride in tight/rough stuff and it overheats in less than 5 min.

Sixth... The gas tank. If descending a hill for a few minutes with less than 3 liters in the tank, no gas will go in the system because it takes the gas in the rear of the tank...the bike shuts off. Not a big issue but still a problem.

Also, I heard people having electrical problems and they had to change the entire loom $$$

I just don't have confidence in my bike for anything than a ride around the house.
I thinking of returning to the reliable DRZ400S. I want a dual-sport bike that I can count on.

I someone can help me with those issue I will maybe reconsider changing my bike...cuz it's one hell of a bike when it's working!

If the bike does nothing when you push the button pop the seat off and wiggle the wires going to the starter relay.. Mine had this happen where they rattle loose. I put a plastic zip tie around mine to hold it tightly together.

Second issue...fuel pump went dead after only 30 hours...KTM replaced it free but will it last???

Original pump was garbage. The replacement KTM pump should be good, but there is also an aftermarket unit from CACycleworks available that has proven reliability and is cheaper than the OEM unit

Third...the tail light cracked when it got caught on the rear tire...I don't know what Husaberg (KTM) was thninking when designing this bike???

Cant help you on that one. Is your suspension set for your weight? What tire? It is possible to bottom the tire into the rear fender with tall knobs when new on most bikes. If the tail light is in the way cant help you out on that one.

Fourth...The headlight bulb blows often. Learn it the hard way coming home in the dark. 40 hours on the bike and it's my fourth bulb. Did not blow a fuse a single time though.

I would check the voltage when the bike is running. It shouldnt go over 14.5ish volts. If it does your voltage regulator may be bad.

Fifth...the bike overheat like hell. Ride in tight/rough stuff and it overheats in less than 5 min.

If your riding lots of tight slow stuff the only fix is adding an electric fan. Radiators need air flowing over them to remove heat from the coolant. An aftermarket exhaust helps a ton too, but it will be louder.

Sixth... The gas tank. If descending a hill for a few minutes with less than 3 liters in the tank, no gas will go in the system because it takes the gas in the rear of the tank...the bike shuts off. Not a big issue but still a problem.

I have never had a hill steep enough or long enough for this to be a problem cant help you here.

Install the 70 degrees racing tank; all fuel will flow to the forward tank, keeping your pump under the gasoline. When you would go straight, it would level again with the rear tank.

2tocool and other special cooling liquids might take the heat out of your radiators, possibly even without the fan.

Wonder when these might be available again? Looks like back orders have been filled but not able to order from the site yet.

For the rear fender issue I heated mine and bent it up a little . The tire was catching the rear tip and trying to pull the fender.

Fuel filter. This sounds like an issue I had. Replaced my injector and added the KTM in-line fuel filter that comes with the new kit and it was like a new bike. Bike starts almost immediately - even when cold now. Other have added a separate in-line filter for added insurance and/or a filter-sock in the tank.

New pump should be good. It was an issue early on. Mine has given me no problems. I believe the previous owner had my fuel pump changed under warranty.

Yes, that stock taillight was a bit of a bad move. Updated to euro-spec / LED version.

Never a problem for me, but I now have an HID setup.

Yes. There's been much written on this. Ceramic coat and/or wrap exhaust. CV4 does a "blanket" for the underside of the fuel tank that helps. Or, I just used reflective heat tape under the rear of my tank. also, KTM fan kit.

Never been a problem for me... but I'm not sure if I've ever been on a long downhill stretch with a low tank.

Haven't heard much about that. I've had my FE570S for about 18 months now and no electrical issues.

GO to ADVrider and look up the inmate Lost. If his travels on your same bike don't inspire you to work out the bugs, I don't know what to say. Obviously, Lost has tested the reliability of this bike and found it is basically a reliable steed.

Personally, I've almost 6000 miles on mine now, without a single major issue too. I've modified a bit, HID and LED headlamp, made a rear fender support, changed rear taillamp to LED, run a 70 degree tank, changed to a manual cam chain adjuster, put in a Can Am inline fuel injection fuel filter, and modified my exhaust baffle to improve the bike's breathing (reduces overheating issue), installed a fan (rarely comes on), running Engine Ice to prevent boiling over of coolant and improve cooling efficency, changed the seat for more comfort, changed bar height and pegs, etc. Basically, I've just personalized the bike. It is the same thing I always do with my bikes, and mine has been reliable and I absolutely love the bike. I'd say hang in there, the DR 400 is not an improvement.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/member.php?u=40504 - a good guy too [although I will confess, we haven't met him in person yet - I missed the recent DV ride due to injury].

Which one?

Can you give any details? I didn't see anything over on Adv...

When buying a 10k, the owner shouldn't have to go through forums to try to resolve his issues.
It's my 10th offroad bike (and i've owned many Ktm bikes, 2 stroke and 4 stroke), and I never had that many problems. I've always put a few hundreds dollars on my bikes to make them better, not to resolve issues that the manufacturer left behind.

What did you did to your baffle?

I know the Drz is not a Ktm, it's heavy and underpowered...but the bike will bring the rider home everytime!

The real problem is the fact that Ktm (and the reseller) will tell you (95% of the time) that they never heard of those issues...bullsh$&
Thank god we have forums...but let's face it, we are doing Ktm's job!

If you look me up by my id on here, I posted about the pipe mod. The Husaberg FE570S has a very restrictive end piece which can be cut off and opens up the exhaust a lot. I also drilled out a inner piece for some more flow, hardly noticed a diffference in sound, but sure breathes better.

My KTM was perfectly reliable too, but it wasn't nearly as fast or as fun to ride. Good bike and yes, expensive, but well worth it to me.

Hi, a dedided to give another chance at my Husaberg.

-First, I sent my ecu to KTM and they will change my mapping for the enduro one. Will run a little bit richer.
i will maybe buy a kit fan as well.

-Second, I ordered a new tail light (led) with integrated turn lights. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Husaberg-FE-FS-3 ... 2c6da7d88a

-Regarding my headlight bulb...I checked and I have about 14.1 volts going to the bulb (low and high). The last time it blew, it did when going from low beam to high beam...

We'll see!

You should consider getting rid of your stock headlamp bulb. My original bulb blew all of the time, i got sick of replacing it. It was the world biggest POS. I think it was vibration that caused it. Anyway, I went to HDBright and put in one of their HID bulb kits for $80. I've had no more issues and it puts out a lot more light, I can actually see at night now.

Thanks for the info!
Does the kit comes with the hid bulb ?

Thanks!

Do I need to do any modifications to my bike to install the hid kit? I understand that hid runs on dc power and the ktm headlight runs on ac power...Am I wrong?

I have the same. Paul's stuff is good.

However, the integrated indicator(s) are almost invisible in real life usage (on the road).

No problem...I rarely go on the road...only to link the trails. The pipe would put a lot of heat on the oem right turn light. Now, no problem!

I was in your same position with all the same problems except for the head light and the gas problem while on long hills. I have the same bike as you and I'm telling you it is worth every second to fix the bugs.

I added the rear fender kit with LED turn signals in the break light and had him add extra connections so I could hook up extra turn signals if I wanted to.

I added the KTM/berg radiator fan, ceramic coated the mid-pipe and header this helped with cooling.

the biggest difference in cooling and staling came from adding the race map and a free flowing Stock KTM muffler found used and was a cheap fix, the race map add's more fuel and helps some with cooling as well.

I removed the emissions/sars stuff which instantly cured my backfire and stalling and hard starting.

after only 10hrs my fuel pump went out it was under warranty and It's been great for a full year now.

So after doing all of this I can walk out turn key on blip the throttle and push the start button and the bike will instantly fire every time. I recently put a rekluse on and this thing is impossible to stall out now and with the rekluse slave cylinder if my starter should go out I can push start without pulling anything apart.

I'm in an offraod club and we put on a harescramble every year that is very tight and technical and my bike has no problem with it. All my friends have ridden it at the track and they can clear jumps on it that they could have never done on their own bikes and they all come off it with a smile then I can put mirrors back on and ride it home which is even more amazing!

Thank you very much!

Did you add a fuel tank "sock" (filter) ?

I dont use a fuel sock and have not had problems. I do have the factory inline filter that's part of the quick disconnect fuel line under the gas tank.
