Well,I've bent my bars(don't ask :oops: )and will eventually need replacements.I like the stock bars but would like to get something different primarily because I want a knurled end on the left grip.Anyone have any suggestions(crossbarless) or the rise,sweep etc specs for the stock bars on an 05 FE550?Thanks,

AF

whats your height. cos if your 6'6" you'll want a differnt bar than if you're 5'2"
used to use a renthal bar, think the code was something like 991. it was just tweaked back enought to be comfortable but still gave plenty of leverage.
now i just use whatever happens to be on the bike or lying in the shed.

I Liked The Windham Bend Renthal Fatbars,Think It Was Either A 906 Or 966 Bend,Think I Might Change To Them Once I've A Few Rides Undr My Belt On My 450.

I run pro-taper woods high....bent mine too....
608 with 20mm bar risers dude, knighter runs 997 fatbar renthals but he likes a low front end to get traction n the front end biting, wot does he know anyhow!

Thanks guys but I don't really want a higher set as I'm running 20mm risers already and find that with these,the stock setup suits me perfectly.BTW, I'm 5'10"

Dont throw those bent bars away Fordster,save them for when you trade it in,just like the last two!

I'm asking! :wink:

Well Kelsow,seeing as though you asked,and keeping in mind that I'm not entirely convinced they weren't already bent when nsman sold me the bike :wink: ,it's like this;

I was getting in a little track practice and was taking a couple easy warm up laps and I wasn't paying a lot of attention as my mind was wandering because I was thinking about shift points and the like.Coming out of one 90 degree corner theres a short run to a small double then a short distance to another one then a longer run to a bigger one.I usually hit the double in third but it's a pain to get it in fourth fast enough for the next one and to have it in fourth before the double is a little luggy so I was thinking it would be ideal to shift up in the air over said double.While I was thinking this over I went over the double with insufficient speed and dropped the front end into the face of the landing and was unceremoniuosly spit over the bars,landing on my left hip and elbow(which reminds me,I need to put the hip pads back in my pants and check into a set of elbow pads)Knocked even more senseless than usual I was reminded of my mother saying to me years ago"you just sit there and think about what you've done".This little incident led me to inspect the bike closely and I then discovered the bent bars which,as I said previously,may well have been bent from new :lol: Aren't you sorry you asked?Anyway,this all reminds me,I think we're riding over there this weekend.Are you coming over?

:roll:

Not sure where I'll be this weekend, Thanksgiving and all.

I hope to get all that taken care of on Sunday.That leaves sat or mon for riding depending on who's doing what.It was a good ride last weekend.The Berg,YZ250,450EXC,200EXC and two WR250's one of which was fraser 22 from Ont.(he's on NSDSC site)fun,fun.It's a good way to work off that turkey :)
