I ride alot of tight deep sand and then some open stuff where i want to open it up. What sort of gearing should i run? I am currently using 16/45 its ok but i think abit tall (have standard oring 520chain) am currently running a 110 wide tyre on back instead of 120.

Anyone who rides that sort of stuff let me know...your thoughts

I also want something that will work well in the mountains with lots of tricky climbs and stuff. Would prefer only to have to change fronts...

Any suggestoins and what sort of top speed do you think i might get with your suggestions.

I am riding a 05 650E
thanks guys

You say you want to know if your gearing is ok? Yes it's ok!! You think it's too tall ? Try a 15/45, then let us know what you think.

Mackberg

15 x 48 is fine for my friend and he is a over 50 expert thats faster than most 30 year old experts. If you go to a 15 up front that will be the cheapest thing to do. ( I would go 15 x 46 or 47 if it was my bike)
