I'm with Berger, not a normal sound to my ears. Seems like a whiney bearing sound to me, maybe from an idler bearing under the L/H case.

Im with Taffy on this one, I just went to the shed an started my 04 and my 08 450's, and yes the noise is there in both. The 30hr freshly built 08 is noisier than the 200hr 04, but the 04 sprague is worn and slipping and needs replacing.

So that noise (air siren, whistle) is normal ?
After installing new sprague bearing and gears it started to whine that way ,but when i mix outer and inner older gears with new sprague bearing it is not whining just rattles.
So what is normal or better? :roll:

I know of the change in parts but.
Old <02 sprague bearing,and gears rattles the same as pre <02 outer and inner gears with after 02> sprague bearing.
And after 02> full setup (gears and bearing) does not rattle just whines,whistle i do not know how to name it.
So my question - what is normal (safer) that it rattles or whines like the 02> setup?
