FE600 sprag clutch problems

Hi, on the bottom of page 13 on the left it shows another cable coming from the back of where the kick starter is. On the back of my engine casing at the same point it is all sealed, there are no openings or bolt holes.
The auto decomp mounted on the cam shaft is on mine as I remember seeing it when I stripped the bike down.
I will look into getting hold of the parts for the handle bar mounted decomp system that you have mentioned as I think this would help a great deal. Thanks for all your help, Dan :)

Hi Dan,

You said "The bottom of page 13 on the left it shows another cable coming from the back of where the kick starter is".

You do not need those parts.

Like I said, item 59 wears down, becomming ineffective. Much more effective ones have been designed and incorporated into the late models.

Good luck, :)

hi,
the cable coming from the back of the kickstarter was not included on the e start models of that vintage. as some have said, it is redundant anyhow. on my kickstart fe400, with the cable, and no handlebar lever, i can adjust it so it doesn't work and can feel compression when kicking if compression happens to be close to the start of the kick. this is because the cam release is dynamic, has to be moving to work, and my wimpy left leg needs all the help it can get. if you get a good kick at it, and in different locations thats impossible, its ok. based on my experiences with my 98 fee, a handlebar mounted release would be an asset.

Hi, ok, thanks for the extra information :). Just wondering if anybody has a pictuer of part 25, as I am a welder/fabricator by trade and should be able to sort 1 out for myself. As for the handle bar mounted puller I have a seperate decomp puller from a differnt bike which will do the job just as well. The reason for making one myself is its much cheaper and I would have to wait at least 2 weeks for 1 to be ordered in, if anybody does have any pictures of the part 25 please post it here, thanks Dan
