If you have to replace the counter shaft seal/sleeve/O ring, I highly recommend the Enduro Engineering kit as the inner O ring is much beefier than the stock one.
The majority of the time it is this stock thin O ring that starts to fail and allows oil to travel down the splines and get spun out from under the spring washer.
When I change my front sprocket or do work there I clean the threads of the bolt and the inside of the counter shaft with a tap to remove all old loctite. Clean with contact cleaner and blow out with compressed air.
An impact wrench is not necessary to remove or install the bolt. Just put the bike in 6th gear and apply torque slowly and it will come off, you may have to hold the rear brake coming off. But, going back on, 5th or 6th gear will hold it while you torque it to 44 ft. lbs.
Be sure and use Red loctite on the threads of the bolt.
