FE570 vs TE630 for weekend trails and dual-sporting

I sure hope mine was a fluke.. The conn rod bearing oblitterated completely. I put in a new crank, con rod, inner races for the mains (left old mains as they were fine), new cylinder, piston, and she runs like new.. I will be using only motorex 10/50 for now on. I ran mobil-1 15/50 synthetic the first time, but changed it every few hundred miles.. cant imagine that did it

My brothers 530 had a similar catastrophic failure early in life. Ktm fixed it and it was fine after that.

Im running a RAD mfg cush hub on my berg.. worth the money and not much more weight.. to off set the weight, I put in a lithium battery and alum sprocket, and litelock rim locks.. pretty nice setup so far

I've got both bikes and prefer the FE for trails and tight woods, but prefer the TE for trips that involve a great deal of road riding. The Husaberg demands my full attention, where the Husky is good for sight seeing. The Husky can do pretty much anything the Husaberg can do offroad, it's just that the Husaberg takes less effort. The Husky is better on road, as it is less vibey than the Husaberg (at least for me). The Husky take a bit of work to get it to run right, whereas the Husaberg is pretty good right out of the box.

It would be hard to make a wrong decision choosing either bike.

Yes, I have an 09 TE 610 EFI and 11 Berg 570 EFI. I would say the 610 is a great do it all bike. If I had a 50/50 trip I would take the 610. The Berg is a better do it all bike if it's 80/20 or 90/10 or 100% favoring dirt. Everything Thumperama said+1

I flew from NY to Pitsburgh to buy the TE630... hopped on her and drove 550 miles open highway HOME! Stopped for gas, rested my asz, the rest was pure joy.. I have a scotts stabilizer on her and you can drive 100 mph hands free she is a road bike in her spare time. Oh yes.. I can do almost anything offroad, but I use my CRF450x for that. The berg is in between.. I love the berg for the road too <25 miles and she is a beast in the pits. Some days I cant make up my mind which bike to ride !!

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know, the devil walketh amongst thou.....I bought a TE630!

EDIT: Finn (Lost Rider) great post and information, thanks mate. Fortunately/unfortuantely the price of the Husky was to good to pass up. I think you're spot on with the cush hub, the TE630's counter shaft is pretty much stuffed at 15,400km's of dual sport use as well without having a cush hub installed (despite the damped/'cush' clutch they're apparently fitted with).

I just couldn't find a Berg for the right price compared to the Husky. I'm going to build the Husky into a dual sporter so that when it comes to looking for a dirt bike, I won't need to give as much weighting to it's dual sport abilities.

The Husky I bought has 15,000km's or so on it and it's counter shaft is worn to buggery; it's going to have to be replaced. With that done, it's going to be getting a Kush Sprocket and probably a cush hub as well and the clutch cup mod. It's also going to get an FMF 4.1 and a PowerCommander 5 + dyno tune. The plan is run a Giant Loop for luggage, but I might ghetto it up and just strap some dry bags that I have to the back. Still got to decide on a rear rack for it as yet, but the rear subframe is off getting some reinforcements welded in with the aim of warding off the snapped subframe that they're prone to when heavily loaded. Apart from that, I'm choosing to replace most of the bearings as well since half of them were pretty well shagged. Still, even with all this going on, I'm going to come out about $1,500 to $2,000 in front of similar year Berg. I know the Berg is probably the better dirt bike, but I think this is going to make a great adventure/dual sport type of bike for me as its still pretty offroad capable compared to other options like the F800GS etc. It's going to take me a while to get the build finished, but I'm quite enjoying the learning process!

Look forward to discussing Berg's again with you guys in the future, they still remain the bike that I lust after, sneaking around at night to look up saucy picture of em on the net!
