Creeping a bit closer to Spring in New York. It's been damn Artic cold. Hopefully this will change very soon. Getting anxious to hit the trails with my Berg.

I stole the plate off my FE450 and rode my FE250 today, 60 here in GA

Not sure if I'm going to go the full turn signals etc. to make this bike a full dual sport. I did install the rear brake light switch so no one will crash into me when I stop. In WI they don't need turn signals so I think I'll try to get a plate up N in the summer when I'm up there. I will admit that the 450 is better on the road than the 250, it feels more planted. But...the 250 is so light and nimble.

Oh decisions decisions! Can't complain :)

For longer excursions I use my KTM LC4 640. I'm doing lots of pavement miles and easy trails with the 640. I use my FE250 as an offroad bike and have it plated only to connect the trails riding on the pavement. Which in my case are rural roads with almost no traffic. I think the longest stretch I've done on pavement with the FE250 was about 15 miles. Definitely not as happy as my KTM 640, but it gets the job done and when I'm in the gnarly, rocky stuff, I'm glad I'm on the FE250.

Tusk Kit

A bit of mess as I needed to cut and slice harness for stock tail light, but it all works nicely.. see the rear blinker functioning..

Looks great CJ! Your lucky you can get a NY plate without inspection or looking up whether a bike is street legal from the factory like most states now.

Rode my FE250 on MX track and it feels like a 350 and loves to fly :cloud9: My only issue is that the throttle cables have so much free play which is hard to figure since the bikes brand new. I pulled tank and adjusted but I'm out of adjustment. Seems funny since my FE450 is perfect. :(

Thanks LadyBerg. Actually, I bought the bike in MA. from a dealer and had the MSO to turn in to NYS DMV to get a title. Without that I wouldn't have gotten the Berg plated.

Have you talked to your dealer about the throttle cable? Something doesn't sound right.

I've got a few buddies with BERGs that I've been riding with in my neck of the world. Love the 390 and 450 slant engines. Been putting on the miles on my FE250. It's super light and easy to ride fast in the rocks!

CJ how do you compare your FE250 vs FE390? Like handling , turning , suspension , power. I know the 390 is top heavy when picking it up.

Quite honestly, I don't have a lot of saddle time on a 390, so I can't give an honest comparison report. I was looking to buy one when I came across my FE250 at a dealer for a ridiculously low low price. One of my regular riding buds has a 2010 390. Some BERG owners consider my series(of course the last of the BERGS) to be more of a KTM or even a blue Husky. I bought my FE250 with the intention of checking it out and selling it if I wasn't satisfied. I was surprised how good of a bike it turned out to be. It's much lighter than my 03 KTM RFS was and has enough power(so far) to haul me pretty much anywhere. Handling is very good. I set the sag and played with the suspension at the dealer before taking the bike home. Turning, it feels very planted and goes where I point it. I weigh about 187#s without gear and the power has always been more than enough to haul me up some pretty gnarly technical sections(think rock ledges and steep eroded hill climbs). I find that the faster I want to ride the FE250, the better it handles. I'm a huge fan of PDS so I don't think the Husky version(linkage) would feel the same. At the end of a day long ride, I'm not worn out like I was on the 03 KTM RFS. While doing pavement sections, I wish I had a larger cc bike(like a 350), but my FE250 still buzzes along okay at 55-60 mph.
I had an opportunity to buy a 350 version not too long ago, but I like my 250 enough not to make that move. IMO, the latest generation of FI 250f bikes have come a long way. What the FE250 my lack in grunt compared to a 450 it doesn't give up in the much lighter easier to handle department. ;)

Well I have to chime in on this because I have a 2010 FE 450 and then got a 2014 FE 250 and oh WOW do I love both of them lol  I just got done riding the FE 250 at Highland Park Resort in the NW mountains of GA and it was a blast. From tight ST to fast flowing mountain climbs the 250 just pulls and pulls up the steep mountain trails and in the tight switch back woods I'm not beat up (well somewhat I'm getting older) so bad as the 450.

How ever, I'm doing 5-6 dual sports on the FE 450 where for me it really shines. It's an all day steady mile eater bike that kicks *** on the trail sections! And what's so fun about all of this is...it's not Orange KTM...it's not Husky...it's HUSABERG :D
