Hello Husaberg freaks, this is doctorcorey looking for a little help in identifying the carb that came on my 96 fe600(I bought the bike new in 2000). Just a note first, however, that when started with this carb, the engine would blow out stinking black smoke. This was not a stuck choke, wrong jetting, float level, etc. There was something definetly wrong. It was like you were pouring gas into the carb with a garden hose. After hours of frustration with no improvement, I just bolted on the carb from my 500 and have been using it ever since. I'm not even sure if that carb
(600) is the right one for the bike. I'll list the numbers on it and some particulars and maybe one of you can identify it. I'm once again calling on the massive brain trust of the UHE ( at least those of you who've suffered fewer concussions than your race number). Tag on float bowl lists numbers r-9769. Numbers in slide bore 38 and 12. Flat slide number 55. Carb is at least Dell'orto. I believe it was jetted originally main 185, pilot 50, choke jet 50. If I had the knowhow, I'd send a pic. I'm working on it. Thanks for reading this, Corey Chartier. 8O

To LeFrog; Thanks for the response, but I don't get your point. The carb I have is a dell'orto carb. I guess I didn't clearly state my question. I'm trying to find out if this carb is indeed correct for the 96 FE600 Berg. Thanks again!

I have a 97 parts book and the jetting you have for a 38mm flatslide appears to be standard (for a 97 at least).

The carb is probably just worn out. The slide bore is prone to wear as is the float needle jet and needle too. Most likely the float needle jet is worn allowing the bowl to overfill giving you the condition you described.

those square slide carbs are junk out the factory gate. everyone takes them off immediately!

i have 3 magazines here from 1973-5 called bike magazine, and the importer pulled the square slide straight off and put a round slide straight on. this is before the owner got it!!!

you won't get $5 for it on ebay so be a good fella, polish it up, make a wooden plinth for it and stick it on the mantlepeice!

regards

Taffy

Hey, rode my 92 501/600 the other day. You know, five yoars ago I was a Husaberg rider lost in a sea of 2-strokes, now I'm a Husaberg rider lost in a sea of red 4-strokes. The more things change, the more they stay the same! Seriously though, on the subject of my carb, I'll first state that it came on my brand new 96 fe600. The carb was brand new. I'll also add that the bike had no manual decompressor, and it is non-electric start! The dealer couldn't start it! I managed to start it and nearly broke my foot in the process. The cylinder head had no lever for a decompression lever, either. THey did, however, leave the kickstart activation lever in the clutch case to rub on the clutch basket and fill my oil with steel shavings! I mean the little shaft was just sitting in there without the bellcrank portion attached. I believe, therefore, that my bike was canniblised for parts and then put back later to sell. They told me that all I had to do was crank up the spring on the cam mounted decomp and all would be fine! I'm no fool, and I bought this berg cheap! This is why I think the carb wasn't correct for my bike, and I thought it may have been a carb off a big 2 stroke or other, as 2-strokes with their weak intake pulses would require much larger ports for fuel metering. Nothing I know of has a intake pulse that can match a 600 husaberg. By the way, I'd like to find a better carb for my bike, as this old 92 38mm is getting pretty worn, and it does not perfectly match the intake horn on my hybrid. Thanks to all of you for your comments. Corey Chartier.

To make a long story short, look for a good used 40 Dellorto Round Slide on E Bay and life will be good
