how does a discussion of the merits of the '01-'08 cam benefit the guy who asked about the '89-'00 cam with the water pump drive? i'm confused :? . (hard to believe, huh?)
bergini: how did you get an 08 cam to work in a '97. what am i missing here?

that is a weird cam lobe! it is asymetric like a desmo cam?

that looks like it could never be an 08 cam. off a KTM I suspect. but I've never seen anything like it. if you can, please put up a photo of the cam = end on and no bearing in the way...

regards

Taffy

looks like that was a cam with a water pump shaft on it that has been cut off to me

if you degree it (print out a degree wheel) you could work out what it is from the webcam specs for the old cams in the excel file I put up.

the 08 cam has very aggressive flanks and high lift this increases the strength of the intake/ exhaust pulses and it has a lot of duration at higher lifts compared to the others

it also has a very early intake closing point which means the dynamic or effective compression is higher = more tourque

its lobe separation angle and overlap mean the intake and exhaust tract efficiency is not so important but the delivery is a bit lumpy.

the 8/33 has a broader spread of power but has slightly less torque and less power than the 08

I would not use any of the older cams

I do not know what to do.
I already have a '08' camshaft.
I can just buy a used 450 2007 cam.
Leaving the '08' from 650 or buy '53' of the 450?

OK i put 53 cam. 08 is for sale.
