Cam chain weights

I just removed the stock cam chain from my 07 FS 650. At 145 hours its dead with 3 clicks remaining in the
tensioner. Generally its not bad, neither good. I havent push the engine a lot though.
Was thinking to bought an IWIS that costs in Greece 67 euro  A year ago the cost was 53 euro, but the KTM now took the import for itself....

I hadnt ask the price for DID,but know seems sweet

The DID camchain weighted in digital scale at 262gr.

HusaBELGfs570, when you have lighter moving parts in your engine, generally its gonna rev quicker as it consumes less energy.

:D :D :D just because its me posting doesn't mean I can't update my point as the claims are changed

ie the eBay listing has changed after this thread which is nice

BUT it is still false and misleading ....

so on the subject of strength .. there is no data to prove that one is stronger... but one is shorter than the other when new

ORANGEBERG told me once the DIDs will sit on 2 or 3 clicks left for ages nothing wrong with that

so how many clicks were they on to start with ... ? probably 4 IMHO just as strong but in some bikes a bit too long

so the issue if any is in the length of the chain as new (some Regina chains new were so short they couldn't be installed without being over tight)

then depending on slight differences in the castings and machining you may or may not find the chain rubbing on the alloy when the tensioner moves a couple of clicks

my DID was still fine at 220 hrs, i have an old one a new one, and a brand new IWIS will put up some pcitures showing the difference in length, my IWIS i got to put in at 220 hrs didn't need any tensioning as new becasue it was so short.

That is very interesting Bushmechanic! Even if I hadnt measured my tensioner earlier,I know that 3 clicks remaining from 16 clicks are few as a general rule. But if Orangebeg said that, I will give a chain a second try and do a test to see how much it will last until 1 click!

Hi

Bushie, you DO understand me,

I can't say nothing about DID, but in my business I have two kinds of supplier's, Germans and mostly Italians, usually the German machine costs twice the Italian one but it's worth. :D
This is not a scientific opinion, is just my experience.

I can rivet a cam chain single handily with hammer and anvil.:p
I have notated that the DID chain has tight and loose spots when new at least,
but that is probably endemic to any chain?
