Cam chain tensioner lever upgrade question

eric

having checked two motors out i'm now convinced that we need to run the blade as farfrom the outside wall as possible. that way the middle of the chain (rollers) track the raised lip perfectly.

that still leaves this question of where should the pressure point be?

at the moment its right up near the pivot and creates enormous pressure. is there any need for it? surely a powerful spring and less leverage is good whilst a strong spring (such as we have) should be for a contact point halfway along its length (the middle?)

here is another intersting point eric, the old 2000 engine i'm working on has the CCT blade pivoting at the bottom and not the top. this is relevant to the direction the chain runs and the pressure point.

I am rebuilding my whole bike and make some upgrades.
So which site of the blade should i grind to have the alignment correctly on the chain?
