Hope any fellow North Queensland bergers have battened down the hatches coz Yasi is on the way. Hopefully my shed roof stays on and 12mm chain is stong enough to stop my berg blowing away. I would say good luck all but its good management that will make the difference. Stay safe people.

Yeah, same here for everyone up this way. I think on its present course we might miss the worst. it,ll be those in line and south of the ctr. that said, prepare for the worst if you can, if your in the vicinity, as it could do anything.

Yeah good luck up there tonight berglsmerg, fnqberg and the rest of you Queenslanders. It looks bad on the news. I think Weed will miss it?
Queensland is just getting hammered lately, can't believe it.
I think NSW needs to steal the QLD slogan of "The Sunshine State"

Let us know how you get on tomorrow if your Internet connection is still working.

Davo.

geez mate,it doesn't look good.
300kph winds and a central pressure of 922hpa. larger than the size of new zealand.
shes a big'un & its coming your way berglsmerg. 8O
with a bit of luck, going over a bit of land before it gets to you, might just take the edge off it a bit. :?
keep safe people. i hope you have an underground bunker or get the f*ck out of there.
i have relitives in cairns & mareeba and they tell me they are staying put, dunno i think i would be outta there.
fingers crossed for all you people in fnq.

popup im in mareeba as well, there isnt anywhere to go to ! better off in our houses then trying to drive away.
Who are you related to in Mareeba?

I'm ducked the f*ck down popup, got the family and extended family from townsville camped in a matteress and pillow fortress in the laundry. If I was living in the tablelands I would bail the fugg out. F*cking shitten myself now.

8O Good luck with it 300ks+ sounds friggen scary, riding gear on and tie yourself to a boat anchor

Bro and I built bunkers to hide from fire lots days here 48 degrees C 4% rel humidity and 80k winds, maybe be good for cyclones too but the fuggers might fill up with water :?

Its rockin here too dude we'll get it in about 90 minutes, with all the rain we'l be isolated by tomorrow, hope you got some shade fnqberg.

Best of luck to all you fellas down under! Hope to hear your all safe and all your families and friends as well!
We'll say a prayer for you.
Kim Angell

Thanks barshoe, everyone I know is accounted for and safe sitting in the dark. Soarerman or fnqberg you fellas got a copy ?

Hey, good to hear you and the family are OK Berglesmerg. :)
I know it's only 8:00am up there but they are saying no serious injuries reported from cyclone Yasi. I am seeing lots of trees and power poles over and plenty of houses missing roofs on the news.
285Kmh winds :?

All good here mate, we only got wild winds and some rain, and no power untill 930 am.
I hope everyone is safe from tully down.

All ok here, bad enough for me here, hate to have been in Tully. on genny, no pwr yet

Copy that mate, let the clean up begin. Just saw Tully on the telly 1/3 of all buildings destroyed  Thankfully no fatalities so far.

Glad to hear at least some of you have made it through OK. Still hoping for the rest of ya'll

this gives you an idea of the size of "yasi"
over twice the size of hurricane "katrina" that hit new orleans in the states, with only slightly more intensity.
certainly very lucky it didn't hit a more densily populated area, thats for sure.
all the same,i don't think it would have caused the destruction of cyclone "tracey" if it did hit a major city, simply because building codes are better now.
lessons have been learnt from "tracey" as ususal we learn the hard way. :?
cyclonesize.jpg

imagine going through the eye of the cyclone, getting smacked from "pillar to post" then the eye comes over ....of complete calm....., then "brace yourself" for round 2 as you come out of the eye again. 8O
i bet the people of tully have some stories to tell
mate, you would have to be "$hitting bricks the size of bessa blocks" going through that, in one of those old wooden huts of tully ,wouldn't ya?
swallow 1/2 a bottle of rum so you can roll with the punches easier
hey soarerman i will give you a pm soon & see if we know any common ground.
..weed..

I've done up to 270 kph on the bike and its draughty. Can't imagine the house doing 270 kph, let alone no throttle or brake to control it :cuss:
