g'day my fellow husaberg ppl, i finally bought my first berg and F#$K me, is it a fun, fast, and a sweet ride, i was wondering, i wanna keep this bike problem free, im riding it on the road for about only 15-20 mins a day a maybe a small trail ride on the weekend, so how often should i drop the oil, check the valves and all stuff like that and whats everything i should do to keep it tip top

thanks guys u've been a massive help and this will be, i promise the last post from me lol

cheers

regards keith

Valve adjustment should be done every 15 hours according to the manual but you can go a bit longer than that in most cases. Take the inspection covers off every once in a while and grab the rockers. If there is some play you are probably O.K.. If there is no play then adjust them asap.

Change the engine oil every 15 hours. Most change it more frequently. Check the oil level every ride and top off as they will burn some oil and that is considered normal.

Keep your battery plugged into an Optimate III charger or equivalent when not in use. This will keep the battery in top condition and it will last much longer. Batteries are expensive.

There are many other details to be considered but this should keep you going for awhile. Read everything on this site. There will be a test on Friday.

what is this optimate 3 that u speak of?????? is it some sort of oil or something, is it available in nsw??

cheers :?:

its a battery charger, similar to the 1 pictured above.

not cheap ( here in the uk at least) but 1 of the best on the market and worth the money

If you can't find a Optimate the Ctek is also top notch. It has a selectable recondition mode whereas the Optimate is automatic. These 3-5 step chargers are the only kind that can properly keep high tech batteriies properly charged at 13.5 volts (Yuasa YTZ type) They also work great on more run of the mill batteries. Don't go cheap on the battery charger as the cheapo ones will not do the job.

wow guys im overwealmed with the responses, thank use all so much uve been nothing but major help and its rare to find ppl even willing to assist you so cheers and thanx a million plus 1, ive been riding the bike for the past 4 days so far, and its going like a cut snake, every gear on the 501 feels like its pulling your arms off, usually when i came up to someone in the traffic they would just plaintly stare at my 60 series landcruiser and smerk but now with my berg, lol leave all those little doof doof cars behind while i pass em on the rear wheel then my throw in the old fingure or too if they think there tops, i reckon im never changing over from a berg again, got my eyes set on an 09' 550 already so fingures crossed,

cheers again guys

best regards, keith
