Hey guys i'm new in the forum and just got myself a 98' FE400 which i will build a supermoto bike for the track from. I've searched in the forum but couldn't find anything regarding a fs650 fork swap (WP48) which i also got with the bike. Does someone know if this is possible with the diameter of the steering head bearing including the fork bridges of the WP forks of course? Leave aside the different diameter axle and hub which i'll propably need too.
And another question that has nothing to do with this: i've been told that the 98' fe400 never had balance shaft from the factory but i think they all had stuff like that either on the crankshaft itself or as separate shaft next to the crank.
Maybe someone can give me a hint thanks in advance:)

you don't say which generation 650 forks you have?
small axlee = 2001-2002
big axle = 2003-2008

the electric starts had a balancer and the kickstarts didn't.

Thanks for the quick reply i'll have to measure the axle diameter to tell exactly. Would it be possible with both or just with the small axle diameter?
Are there any other issues with the kickstarter 400 engine? I've watched for leaky chain tensioner and waterpump but everything seems to be fine:)

the hole in each leg will be different diameters.

it's a 26 year old engine mate! it's entitled to issues.

So i just measured the holes for the axle in the fork left side is 20mm rieght side is ~23.5.
Of course i know it will have its issues i just wanted to know if theres something catastrophic that can suddenly happen to exactly this MY. I was concerned because i thought that evey berg had some kind of couterbalancer to the crank and if it were like that the balance shaft on my bike must have been deleted which would have meant that the crank needed balancing and i wouldnt know it that has been done bla bla bla...
Thanks to you taffy i can sleep at night because the bike never had a balance shaft in the first place:D
