Hello,
one easy question: can Husaberg FS650e be restricted to 25kW so I could ride it when I am 18?

Thank you

That would be a criminal act, buy something with a smaller engine.

I agree, it would be a criminal act but what can I do if I don't have A-open license yet :x :x :x :x :x :x

25kW restriction wouldn't be hard for Husaberg to do and they would defenetly get a new customer- me!

Get a smaller bike?
If it ain't big bore, too much power and doesn't weight next to nothing it just ain't a SuperMoto! (don't remind me what I am currently riding :D )

Does anybody still know of any possible 25kW restriction for Berg?

My guess is, you would need a restrictor ring on the exhaust and some restriction on carburation maybe also ignition alterations. Some here may have more of an idea than me but i think halfing the power of a 650 hussy could be quite tricky, unless ther is a specific kit to enable this, you would need it done on a dyno for starters to be able to measure the reduction in power each modification achieves. As for how smooth and reliably the bike would run with this set up, who knows, maybe you'll be the guinea pig?

A slide stop in the carburetor should work.KTM 625 and 660 are restricted that way to 25kw here in Sweden(and the Bergs are restricted to 6-8kw :D )but it ruins the powerband.Go for a 380 or 400 instead.

Whre are you from Prevtzer? I'm asking just because here in Italy Bergs are sold as restricted and can be ridden at 18. This is the only way to have a street legal berg here in Italy. Obviously every bike is being sold as unblocked and just declared 8 kw on the documents...

anyway, here the "8 kw" versions have the throttle blocked (almost totally), but I can assure you that you will go faster by feet if you keep the block on...

How do you prove it is less than 25kW? Would you have to dyno it after any mods to get the OK for your class of license?

They used to have a law here in Australia that limited learner and provisional class licence riders to bikes 300cc or less. Insurance was also about a quater the price for these bikes.

A few years ago someone realised there were learners getting booked doing double the speed limint on some of the rocket 2 stroke 250s. Laws changed so that it is hard to know what a learner can ride. I think now you are actually OK on a 1840 Harley Davidson!! Not sure, but I think a 650 Berg might be OK too!!!

If they are happy to take your word for the 25kW, just make up a stop tube out of split electrical conduit to limit the throttle slide travel - probably to about half open or so. Pretty easy then to pull it out again when required.

WOW! That they are sold with 8-10 kw is GREAT NEWS. I live in SLovenia but I plan on importing Bergy from Italy anyway.

For all of you wondering:
-why would I want to ride it with under 10kW- I wouldn't and I damn sure won't! Just so that I can get the papers and after that the restriction is GONE.
-how can police officers know that you aren't riding restricted bike? They simply can't. But they can send you to technical examination - probably never happened before so no worries!

I really hope it can be done so I will be able to ride it next year!

yes, if you will buy from Italy you will have a 8 kw restricted bike, so, I think it will solve your problems...
