Guys I am in a situation where I have the opportunity to get my self a new bike I am either going for 2013 FE501 or 2013 EXC500, I know they are fairly similar so whats the opinion of the fellow berg owners??

I guess I just want an easier bike to ride as I like to refer to the FE550 as a bit of an old girl its harder to ride with all the old tech.

This also means that the recently rebuilt FE550 might need a new home but I'm not in a rush.

cheers guys :p

As an owner of a 2011 street legal Fe 570, I would opt for the 500EXC plated bike. I'll admit that its been an investment in both time and money to return my bike to race condition, but the ability to ride it down main
street is truly priceless. Not that I do that much, if ever, but I can. That's the point. None of the new Husaberg's
are street legal here in California and the days of plating a dirt bike that's not factory street legal, are OOOOOVVVVVVEEEERRRR.
My nickel's worth...........

Ok cheers for that I should have said I'm not a licensed bike rider and only intend on Offroad use, I'm fairly sure the berg is also road register able here but I wouldn't bother with it any how, as I said I don't intend to ride on road.

So aside from minor suspension, airbox and subframe differences is there an advantage to one or the other? Maybe resale for the KTM will be better here as its more popular but apart from that I really don't know?

Myself I'm picking the berg. Picking up my FE 501 shortly and not a big deal to license it here in Washington state. Since that's not a concern for you, I would say it's nice to contrast against the sea of orange. Resale was not a problem for me, I just sold my 2010 FE 450 in no time at all and at a good price.

Berg plus's over the KTM
4CS forks, this is huge.
Slightly larger tank.
ECU not locked, totally tuneable.
Not one smog hose or can.
Mapping is spot on for trails, go over to TTalk and there's pages of fix's for the EXC.
Comes with a skid plate, it's crap but it's there.
Seems to be sprung well for 200+ lbs. Sr A rider
The sub frame is lite and well thought out and has useable hand holds.
200 watt charging system.
The seat didn't sack out after two rides.
Comes with a useable muffler that's still fairly quite.

I have three 3 hour ice races on mine and it hasn't missed a beat.

I agree with Jeckle. To many positives over the KTM, which can't be ignored. I have an extremely good and knowledgeable dealer which needs to be factored in also.

went to my local Husaberg dealer this morning and i'm sold on the berg its a sweet ride over the KTM, would prefer black rims but not essential.
