Here’s my 2011 Husaberg FS570

I love supermotos! Having owned both a Husky 701 and an Aprilia SXV550, I was anxious to try out the 70-degree Berg. My state doesn’t allow registrations of converted off-road bikes for the street, so I needed to find a factory street-legal 2011 model. When one popped up for sale locally in August of 2022 with only 31 hours on it, I jumped at the opportunity.

Here’s how it looked when I bought it:

-Fisher custom comfort saddle
-Neken handlebar
-Taller bar risers
-Aluminum skid plate (not pictured)
-Custom license plate mount
-Heat shielding on the fuel tank
-Custom coolant overflow
-Trail Tech electric radiator fan
-HiFlo Filtro washable air filter
-Ignition switch relocation bracket
-Dirt Tricks sprockets 15/45

I don’t know a ton about the history of the bike before me. The guy I bought it from rode it a little before deciding to sell it to get a lightweight ADV twin instead so he could ride with his dad. The owner before him cut the heck out of the rear subframe and front caliper mount/fork leg in an ill-conceived attempt to fit a snowbike kit designed for an FE570! 😩 I’ve fixed the damage, but it was unfortunate.

Awesome bike! How does it compare to the SXV550 for you? I've been looking for a 570 after I rode one a few years ago, but the SXVs are highly interesting and more available in my area at the moment.

Thanks! I think the easiest way to describe it is that if I could only have one supermoto, it would be a Husky 701, hands-down. If I could only have two, 701 and FS570. If I could have as many as I want and was wealthy, the SXV is definitely on the list. It is an awesome third, fourth, fifth bike. Not a good primary bike. Keep in mind that I ride on the street. If your usage is different, your results might vary.

More details from a post I made on another forum in case it is helpful:

I’m struggling to sell my Aprilia SXV550, despite realizing it isn’t the bike for me. Part of the struggle is not wanting to give up the race-supermoto-for-the-street riding experience. This Husaberg seems like the only worthy/better replacement. It is quite a bit lighter, sharper, snappier, and harder than my Husky 701, but should be a bit more user friendly than the Aprilia (better chassis, a touch lighter, wide-ish ratio six-speed, marginally better service intervals, and maybe marginally better parts support.) I will miss the Aprilia’s epic exhaust note and jaw-dropping styling, but I won’t miss pushing it home every third ride! :) The FS570 is a very interesting bike from a technical and historical point of view.

And from another post I made on the subject, comparing the two plus my Husky 701:

Wow! The SXV set my world on its ear! The grip, the power, the brakes, the sound!!! Sadly, I struggled to get it and keep it running in tip-top shape. These bikes are often labeled as unreliable, but I honestly think 98% of the issues stem from owners who aren't onboard with what the bikes require, and I certainly fell into that category. It is very maintenance-intensive, and packaged in a way that service work isn’t easy! If you have the time and dedication to keeping up with the service schedule, and can find/fabricate the parts, I think it wouldn’t necessarily be unreliable.

The 701 was the bike I found myself riding the most. Same weight as my old DR350SE supermoto, but double the power, waaay better chassis and brakes, EFI refinement, and great transmission ratios for all-around road use. The SXV has more sex appeal and feels more special than the Husky, and is 30-some pounds lighter (!!!) but is nowhere near as refined, let alone reliable.

After a long period of deliberation and wavering, I finally sold the Aprilia recently, which was mixed for sure. Not easy emotionally, but very easy logically.

To fill the street-legal-supermoto-race bike-shaped hole in my heart, I bought a super low-hour Husaberg FS570 which popped up locally. I've had my eye on these for a while, lighter and racier than the 701, more reliable and longer service intervals than the SXV, but cut from the same cloth. So far it has been awesome!
