My first Husaberg, 2011 FE 390, came with 52 tooth rear sprocket. Not sure if its just me but seemed second gear lacked a little zip right off the bottom in the slow going stuff. Should I add 1 tooth to the rear sprocket, make it a 53 tooth or would I even notice this ? Also my front break was a little weak, would never completely lock up the tire, how do I adjust this. Last question, is there a tailpipe plug made for this bike to keep water out when washing ?

thanks

13/52 should be low enough for just about anything.

Is the front brake lever pull solid or a little 'spongy'. The lever has an adjustment knob for more throw but it doesn't really affect braking effectiveness. The stock brakes are strong and should easily lock up the front tire in dirt or even on pavement.

I use a large rubber plug in the tailpipe for bike washing. I forget where I found mine, but they are commercially available.

If you can't find a plug, you can take one of your latex/rubber gloves and stretch it over the exhaust opening while washing it.

A standard 4 stroke plug fits the exhaust port if the screen has removed (or fallen off).

I have read other threads about soft brakes. I think the going theory was an air bubble in the top of the brake line that is hard to get out.

to firm up the front brake cable tie the lever to the bars so the brake is fully on whilst parked up. It will feel loads better.

I think 12-50 is the optimal sprocket sizes on the 390, for enduro atleast. That give you 1,5 more tooths without making the rear bigger.

the trouble with running a 12t front is it rubs on the guide and because of the tight angle will wear the chain faster. 13/52 will be fine

Indeed, but he wanted a bit more "zip", you just need to change the guide a bit more often :p

in my opinion the 'more zip' gained by going 12/50 rather than 13/52 will be next to nothing compared with the additional expense of chain guides and chains wearing much faster.

a better solution would be to get a different map flashed on or the adjustable mapping switch fitted
