Of all my Husabergs, I've had this one the longest. Long ago (maybe 2003 or so) I had a 2000 FX600E but got in a head-on collision that bent the frame. At the same time, my brother had a 1995 FE501 that he wasn't riding since he had just gotten a YZ250. So, with his permission, I scavenged the engine out of the 501, purchased a 2003 frame to put it in and then used the suspension, seat, tank, front fender, and shrouds from my 2000. The rear fender was from an '08 FE550 that I raced in the 2011 Vegas to Reno desert race where my team achieved 8th overall. Hence the "325" race number. Here's the result.
Since then, it's had countless configurations, one of which added a big Clark desert tank and the Big Gun you see in the above photo was replaced by the quieter '95 exhaust.
Then one day, one of the cam bearings gave up in the old 501 engine. I found a '96 FC600 on Craigslist and installed that with an original 2000 FE exhaust and an under-seat tank. I also installed a newer front fender and built a more robust license plate holder.
It's been in more-or-less that same configuration until just a few months ago when I decided to pull the old 600 for another project and install a low-hour 2002 FE470 that I picked up recently. I also had to ditch the Clarke tank because it started to leak at all of the seams at the bottom of the tank. Huge bummer as those tanks are hard to come by. The exhaust is a mixture of parts from '05 to '07 'Bergs with the muffler being from an FC given that it has no spark arrester. As you can see, I'm back to the tank from the '00 but the forks are from a 2013 KTM 250SX. These are the closed chamber forks that I removed from my 660 in favor of a new set of KTM air forks on that bike. You can also see black rims and very faded orange hubs on a set of wheels I purchased off of Ebay recently.
Then, just yesterday, I finished the installation of a long-overdue Trail Tech Vapor that'll go a long way toward monitoring the vitals of this machine.
Incidentally, that is a 7" Trail Tech race light frame that I've installed a Sylvania DOT legal light into.
I call this bike "Frankenberg" for obvious reasons.
