I had a few questions about this bike as I am planning on buying it this Monday the 4th.

Basically I wanted to know if this bike was known for any problems. This particular bike came out late in 2001 and came with the 2002 options. It has the larger 48mm forks and the other 2002 options. The bike is in great shape and the electric start works great on it.

The other thing i wanted to find out are the specifications like weight, hp and fuel capacity.

If someone could verify if the transmition gear ratios are the same as the FE470E that would be great. The owner said it should be the same but i would like to know for sure.

Things i found out about it: don't use starter when cold, remove the cover by the motor to let water out. it seems like i could just make a silicone gasket so i won't have to do that. When the cam chain is wearing out it can rub the case and create metal shavings in the oil.

This bike has me so excited it's going to be a whole new experience from my 89 xr 250.

If there is any other info you think would be useful please respond.

thanks

RE: useful schtuff

hi ded,

Check Husaberg Force for some mods/preventative maintenance regarding any mods you might want to make on your bike for longetivity's sake.

You can also check out our FAQ for some needed maintenance

You can pick up your owners/parts manual in our Downloads section.

Glad to have you here, and some others are sure to share some knowledge with you shortly.

thanks,

I believe the gear ratio's are the same for FX and FE in general.
Silicone sealer on the ignition cover will not help. Water seem to travel through the harness into the cover.
You might check your rocker arms and make sure they are the updated ones. Consider replacing them if they are the old style.
Invest in a battery tender.
I sure others will add to this list.

Congratulations DED!

Transmission same as FE

Weight: 241 lb.

Fuel capacity: 9 litres

Read everything this site has to offer. Read Mr. Lineaweavers posts two or three times as they are beyond insightful. Be sure to read (and print out) Taffy's masterpiece on the 02 fe400.

I have a 2001 fx470e (for sale in classifieds BTW). A great bike, but not best for MX, which is my primary use.

48MM forks were std in 2001.
Cam was updated late 2001
starter sprag updated 2002
Rocker ams updated 2004

All but the rocker arms were done under warranty. Drying the ignition cover after a bath is not a big deal. Wash, warm up, remove stator cover, drain engine oil. It all just takes a few minutes on the berg.

As for weight, DirtBike said 264 wet/no fuel for a 650. Should be within a couple of pounds. 241 is for non e-start models.

This website rules and will be the best part of Husaberg ownership.

I'm looking at my 2001 sales brochure and it shows only two configurations for the 470. The FX470e and the FC470/6. The MXer weighs in @ 228 (bone dry no doubt) and the Cross Country @241. A non e-start Fx470 is not listed.

The 470 motor is a torquey little beast. This bike was my second choice actually. I would have preferred a FE470e but no such animal.

It was the first year for the 470 displacement.

You are correct Husabutt, the 470 did not come with a headlight, although the lighting coil is there. The FX has the wide ratio trans and the MX suspension settings (which are still too soft.)

Thanks for the input guys. I would take you up on that offer t-jet-tim but those bikes are selling here locally for $2900 - $2500.

It sounds like i will be very happy with this bike. I will know for sure when i test ride it tonight.

Ya it sux. Eventually when more people start winning the races they will become more popular like the KTM.

I ended up finding a 2002 fe400e for $1800.00

I was thinking that 3200 was a fair price, but 2500- to 2900 for a fx470, and 1800 for a fe400!!! Wow, the market is bad (for selling 'bergs) where you live.

Tim you should of took my KDX  She sold a couple weeks ago for $2900 To the first caller. I guess that third gear wheelie in front of my house helped out.
