Great find. Have you got a link?
I just finished reading a book about John Britten. The single was going to be a production
bike.
Must be a 5 valve motor, they tried a 5 valve head for the V twin as well but the 4 valve
was better, the combustion chamber shape is compromised with 5 valves so any gain in breathing
was lost in the burn. I think Yamaha found that out on the R1 as well.
Note the head and cylinder are one!

its a mind twister how you'd have to put that thing together :D cylinder + head as one and maybe with a liner as well and horizontally split cases

the pic comes from ADVrider a thread where someone visited the britten exhibits in NZ , it doesn't say much other than it was a 600cc engine with 75hp on the bench which doesn't seem like a lot, as you said the 5 valves probably screw with top end but I wonder how the tourque curve looks, should be nice and flat
