Hi guys,

I need your help again(as always). I need you to post what you consider the 10 most commonly needed parts are for your Berg. If you know the part number and if the part number would change between years, could you let me know that as well?

We'll keep a list in this post for review as it gets hashed out.

I'm thinking of contacting some dealers to see if maybe I could house or drop-ship the commonly needed items at cost(or something of that nature).

thanks,
json

in 8 months of riding myself and riding buddy (both on 2003 bergs)have required only brake pads, bikes have been 100% reliable.

We bought a lower rad hose (looks vulnerable) and a lower exhaust header pipe (same reason). spare wheel bearings, brake pads, air filters as spares.

so far only needed the pads....

it has to be wheel bearings for me-3 or 4 sets but oddly enough even the husey dealers say go to a bearing supplier-they're cheaper!

next it would be spokes

next it would be oil filters and oil

next it would be headlamp surrounds

next it would be fork protectors

next it would be front swingarm pivot: rubber protector

chain rollers? (no fear)

grips (no fear)

chain and sprockets-usually together

used to be levers until i went to forged

would have been kickstart seals but i don't have a kickstart

if getting items that could be discounted i would put these at the top of the pile:
rear seat/no plate surround
tail light assembly
lower heim bearing on the rear shock
heap loadsa wheel bearings
how about heavy duty tubes?

to be hoest schwim i'd leave it alone. people are fickle and they'll say they want it and then they won't stump up. TT did stickers that curved around the front guard with 'ThumperTalk" being advertised.

Taffy

Should we break it down by year/model also? ie. Until the 01/02 bikes get some of the 03 upgrades, they need a bit more attention. Here is some generic stuff.

2003 Cam followers: 200 324-01
2001/2 Cam followers: 200 019-01
Husqvarna followers: 1615 04501 (JoeUSA reported longer life than the 01/02 part, and they fit the same 8mm pin rocker)

01/02 Gaskets
Valve inspection gasket: 200 027-01
Water pump gasket: 220 072-01
Tranmission/clutch cover gasket: 220 073-01

01/02 Clutch slave o-rings
piston: 340 029-01
seal: 340 053-01

Ignition cover o-ring: 340 060-01

Something that I feel would be beneficial would be to have Dale make up some various sized steel camchain adjuster spacers to replace the stock aluminum one. Say a stock size, and +5mm, and maybe +10mm.

heya taf,

As is usually the case, you're points are well thought, and I've had the same.

Right now, it's still in the "thoughts" category of my overtaxed mind, just trying to work out what the list would contain.

I wasn't thinking of doing it to make income, but to sell them at cost(+ shipping) to the members, simply as a quick place to get much needed parts.

After the shirts and etc., I decided that I won't be doing anything like that anytime soon. After over 500 shirt sales and shipping, plus enough time spent at the post office to be on a first name basis with the crew there, I made just over enough to pay two months on the server lease. I don't have that kind of time anymore, and it was incredibly painful to do.

We'll just stick to the norm from now on. :)

Gaskets and O-rings (clutch cover, water pump, valve covers, etc.)
Bearings (cam, crank "dbl bearings", counter balencer, swing arm, wheel, steering)
filters (oil, air)
Needle jets (pilot, main, etc.)
Sprockets & chains (including the timing unit)

*Dont know what the demand for the FCR carb or parts are like but if a supplier was available, maybe the whole FCR unit and also the asorted bits and peices needed for the conversion (ie. KTM throttle, 2 into 1 fuel inlet, etc.)

Isnt this what a dealer is for? Oh wait, it is next to impossible to find a Berg dealer that stocks anything.

It is sad when someone like Json has to even think about doing something like this.

hey now, you're hereby ordered to return to your happy place.

You didn't even drop your top 10 list...

In all seriousness, although I'd be stupid to argue with your comment, I wouldn't be able to do this without some good dealers. We've just got to stick with the ones who stick with us.

Some day BMG may decide to give me a dealers list(I've given up asking), and we'll be able to buy parts from some of the new dealers.

thanks,

Note to newbie Scott. If you are in the USA Dan @ Motoxotica is "the Man" when it comes to Husaberg parts. I have also had some success with Alan at the shop in Sparks, Nevada and the shop in Gresham, Oregon. You do have a point though, the shop I bought my 'Berg at has never carried any parts, all special order, case by case, and, well, I don't go there anymore.

As for top ten parts, when your engine goes, unless you are a real masochist(sp?), plan on replacing just about everything in there! Eric

Hi eric,

Either I wasn't as clear as I should have been, or everyone has got major failures stuck in their head. I don't want to carry cylinder heads, exhausts, etc. This was ten most commonly needed(maintenance) parts. I would have thought: plugs, decompressor hump, brake pads, chains, shroud screws, etc. The stuff you can't get at AutoZone, but that the dealers hate to bother to bag when you buy it.

I've got the cart running, and two dealers have agreed to work with me(others have not yet replied), so get your ideas in. You know better than I do what you want to be able to buy quickly/cheaply/hassle free.

Waterpump gaskets
Valve service-lid gaskets
waterpump seal
rockerarms
brake/clutch-handels
clutchcover gaskets
gearshifters
footpegs (for Supermotard riders)
oilfilters

That´s what I use the most at least...

A good price on the Denso Iridium spark plugs would be nice. Not only a much needed maintenence item but a upgrade to boot. I think that you may have to be a Denso dealer to get them. I haven't been able to find any local shops that carry them.

butt

great idea. high mark up on plugs and people do like good plugs and often. not me but still a nice idea!

Irriduim plug prices

I bought the Denso plug for my FE400 on-line. It was maybe $15-$16 at the time, including shipping. What is considered expensive for a really good plug? By the time someone pays the postage to get them to Schwim, and then he has to post them back out to the end user...... not sure we are saving $ that way. We would have to get a serious discount from Denso to make it worth while. The more expensive parts provide the best potential for discounts and $ savings. Just trying to step through this in my mind without turning our beloved moderator into a back-door dealer. Personally, with the talent available within this group, I would be more interested in trying to make available a better mouse-trap for those items that are really bothersome, like the kick-stand! Surely we can put our heads together and buy, borrow, steal a design that we could then have fab'ed into a GOOD side stand we could be proud of. I think it would sell for far less than the nice aftermarket kicks that aren't available for Bergs anyway. Definately an alloy product with a decent mounting point......hhmmmmmmm.......BD

BD:

Very good point. If the parts were drop shipped though and the dealer "helping" to fulfill the order was somehow recognized it could be sold as a loss leader. This could be an excellent opportunity for a dealer to GET EXPOSURE which may in turn drive more customers to that business.

I too would like a good aluminum Pro Moto Billet type kickstand!

BD,

This is being set up as strictly a dropship system, w/this site simply as a go-between. No money is going into the site, because this isn't intended to make the site money. This is intended to give the Husa-owner a central location to purchase much needed parts. I'm not sure what kind of discount it will entail, but the ability to order online alone will make it valuable to the people that don't wish to call around, or are too far from a dealer to pick up something like a plug.

If you think I've missed something in this scenario though, please be sure to let me know. I am by no means a savvy business person ;)

thanks,
