07 fe550 engine questions, valves and main bearings

I use the filters from Ballards for $7.50 each @ +/-20 hrs in lots of 10 and Delo 400 in 20l drums for < $80 @ +/- 5 hrs. 33,000 km on the 501 and coming up 200 hrs on the 650 must prove something!

Hey guys, Thanks for this thread! this is the exact info I'm looking for.
I just bought an 06 FE550 with a motard kit and I'm chasing all the info I can get. I didn't really do much research before buying but frankly wasn't interested in an XR or DR or anything like that so a high maintainence option was really the only one.
The bike is unreal and is going sweet due to a $3000 full rebuild at full throttle motorcycles in brisbane (aust) who im told are reputable. Having said that I am still quite concerned due to the fact that im either riding hard and fast for short rides or sitting on 110 on the highway for an hour, i know, thats probably not a good idea.
The oil looks a bit murky through the window so I will change it and the filter this weekend but my main concern from reading through the forums is the mains. Just the thought of them packing it in has got me stressing, no riding when cold thats for sure.
Is there anything else I can look out for apart from keeping an eye on the oil, without opening up the engine? ie: noises, performance fluctuations and alike? The thing that bothers me is that I cant really hear anything other than the damn clutch! should it be that noisy? The bloke I bought it from said it should but of course he is gonna say that. Is motorex power synth the BEST oil to use? if not what is?
Maybe I should have bought an XR :? ha ha, just kidding. Any info would be hugely appreciated!
