Just wanted to start a quick thread on the build of my bike, and post progress pics.
So I started off with a 2000 fe501. Found the bike on an online ad...Bike had been sitting for over a year, in a garage. Went to look at it and I almost didn't leave with it. Just seemed like it needed a lot of love. But when he told me he would take $200 for it if I took it right then...... I couldn't turn that down!
Got the bike back to my garage and started tearing it down, making a list along the way with parts that will be needed. Setting my budget right around 1000 to get this bike on the street.
As of right now the bike is down to bare frame.
Forks will be sent to a friend of mine for rebuild this week. Frame will be going out for fresh Powdercoat in the next few days, after I do a little metal work by straightening the bent kickstand tabs, and putting a little extra reinforcement into it to help it from moving under the weight of the bike... May even just cut them off completely and make new tabs myself out of proper metal.
Anyway. I'll get some pics up along the way, stay tuned!
Having issues posting from my phone, but I'll get it sorted out.
