G'Day All,
Have googled myself to death and i cant find a single picture of any of the FC's that Joel would have ridden in the 500cc world championship. Essentially i want to build a faithfull representation of this bike and need some pics to work from. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rod (Bahnsy) Bahn

alledgedly both dcr and ss racing have bikes. ill go and get the photos, i say alledgedly cos obviously i dont know if they really were factory bikes

1999 Husaberg

Ex Joel Smets GP bike,

Full on factory bike loads of extras,

Full SPES pipe, Factory clamps,

1 pce Rad/Tank panels,

4 Speed factory gearbox,

Adjustable ignition,

Not for the weak or faint hearted!!!!!.

If that is Joels Factory bike, you gotta ask, "What where they thinking?" Red frame, yellow and red seat & hubs. In one of the video's i'm sure i got a glimpse of an alloy tank on the bike. Whilst i can manafacture mosts of the bits i think i may need, i'm gunna be stuffed with the SPES exhaust. What's the off chance that someone has got an aftermarket SPES system for the 98 model?

Bahnsy

i have a ex smets frame according to dave at dcr, it has a different tank of the type on the 99 bike in the pic above, its plastic and black under all the paint its had, for sale too!

G'day grasstrackpete & bergiebearlike,
Is there any chance that you could send some photo's of the items that you have?
Keen to have a look at anything and everything related to this model.

Smets replica

You need to be careful about if it's a Smets bike or a Smets-Replica.
In 99 the factory sold limited numbers of the FC600 Smets-Replica to celebrate the 98 worldchampionchip. It was a standard FC600 with different camshaft, stickers and seatcover. It had SPES exhaust and some few had gold coated forklegs.
This bike must not be confused with the realdeal factoryracer Joel actually used.

I'd be happy if someone had a least one detailed picture of either bike. Sticker kits are easy, other parts can be found. The biggest issue is getting the "LOOK" right.

Ill take one of mine at the weekend, glad you dont mind about the stickers as mine has 2 different sets. think mine might be a smets replica going of what is written above.

Replica

it's easy to tell if it's a replca. The replica had normal tank and spoilers, the worksbike had a "homemade" (carbonfiber, kevlar or alu.) gastank and covers. The covers was fitted so that they came off with the seat ( if I remember right) and had a more roundish shape in the front. The hole bike was narrower.

And according to a guy I know who tested it, completly unridable for a mortal man!

RE: Replica

Bahnsy, You are in Luck, I recently purchased that '98 model from Dave Clarke and it on the way here to OZ as we speak, I also have some spares for it (no pipe unfortunately) but you are welcolme to borrow the bike.

okay, so someone on a forum like this may know who has the really nice looking 97 FC600 on ebay (in orange) at the moment for sale?

Azza.

Just buy mine.. I can organise shipping :D
SPES Exhaust
Performance Cam
Auto decomp on cam--you can kick it like a 2 stroke.

Absolutely fantastic condition!

Pete, y'know I would, but with the UK pound - $AU conversion, you'd have to practically give it away. Acolleague og mine is even heading over your way, she could bring it back, she'd find your place, its only a small island....can you get a bike on a 747?

Azza.
