"can't be arsed" means "can't be bothered!"

Ha!-Ha! froggy, yes i thought you'd love this one! they're made in froggyland!!

congratulations! you're finally good for something! first bikes they've made since a peugout won the 1907 TT races! (shan't count motobecane - bloody mopeds!)

sherco are only about 10 years old i believe and about 3-4 years ago they bought out a company in france called HRD. HRD used to develop YZ250s back into the old WR250 2T and really did a cracking job! they were handmade enduro racers.

regards

Taffy

so will we see you dressed in sherco clobber .... swearing by the brand and starting to develop a french accent ... wee !

Taffy,
one question regarding the Sherco-engines (4.5/5.1) -> this is a KTM-engine with EFI and colored side-cases?
Only the head is developed by Sherco, or?

sherco are quite open about the fact that when they were developing the bike they looked very closely at the ktm 400. whilst being developed the class changed to 450 so the upped the capacity.
everything is made by sherco with, shall we say, ktm inspired features. unlike beta who just buy engines from ktm.

by all accounts the 450 is a real good bike.

Congrats to you Taffy!

Hope this turns out to be a profitable hoot for ya

Cheers

Mark

Well, Voxan also makes good bikes.

Sorry, it took the better half of the country (the conservatives) about 40+ years to convince the other half (the socialists and their commie comrades) that it was not the job of the State to manufacture vehicles and since then we're now making good cars and bikes (Berger only raves about Renault).

My first set of two wheels was a 50cc Motobecane, extremely hard to destroy, and I did try, because I raced that POS both on dirt and road and managed to find someone to buy it. All I ever did was change a spark plug and a light bulb. Only French-made "vehicle" I ever owned. Would I ride a French bike or drive a French car now? I'd have to give it a second look. Until the beginning of the 90s, it took a Frenchman a lot of patriotic courage to buy domestic. Now it seems they make better junk.

You'll have to tell us how you like it. Maybe you can start the Sherco equivalent of this site one day...

Stay in touch.

Mike

Taffy,
Congratulations on finding the job, but sounds more like job found you. All the best for your new endeavours.

Keep in mind...I am out of this job in 2010. So if you hear any openings ...gis a bell!!!!

NSMAN, Arsed is a cute English phrase meaning interested, or bothered. It is usually used in the negative sense.
Hope it makes sense now!!!

"it's a thin line!"

so true.

Taffy, Conrats and hope this works out well for ya. Did lineaweaver split?, seems I never see him here much. Yup, I guess once bigbob settles into a bike, you know it's no longer exotic and time to move on.

among many comments bob this is so true!

dale got going at it a while back and things became very uncomfortable for all of us here as we all looked on. he then gave up his dealership before a few weeks or a month or two later said he was off with a race team and has literally just popped in a couple of times since.

technical input wise he hasn't done anything since that argument and i believe he has decided that what he knows will stay in his head from now on.

froggy
i drive a citroen xzara picasso turbo diesel, my last car was a citroen zx, the one before that was a citroen BX registration C222 TEW.

i won't buy anything japanese, that's why i raced a ducati. i found the french cars to be very underpriced when i was in the car game in the 80's and 90's as a car salesman. that doesn't mean that they were the best it just means that for what you got you paid peanuts!

gokai
as for the engine well after a coupla chats with my boss he says that sherco were making a lot of the engine parts for KTM and decided to go the whole hog and build their own engine. it looks remarkably similar to the husaberg top end actually and as i get into the bikes further i'm sure i'll find other similarities.

Many congratulations Taffy, that seems like a job well caught for you there, nice one.

You will be wanting to keep the berg though...

Having ridden the shercos they are really good bikes but they don't quite match the handling or performance of the bergs - as you'll know, they're a tad softer in all departments

You'll find the top end remarkably similar. You might even find things like the autodecomp bob weight from the berg fits the sherco too!

Good luck with it, I hope it goes well for you.

All the best,
Simon

Taffy does this mean we'll be seeing you at the wirral off road events.Talking to steve ireland today he was on a brand new sherco he is doing a deal with them and promoting their product through his events he's always been a fourstroke man.Good look hope it works out.
Thanks Darren

ah, so it was steve on the sherco.

last month he was riding a brand new husaberg!

sure that there could be a rude joke here but steve'll ride anything, lol

well done taffy
sounds like an interesting job
thought the trials feller up here used to fetch them in

johnnieboy

as i understand it he is happy to stick to just trials bikes and that's how the opening came about!

because this company has 5-6 trail tour locations they hope that customers will take a ride on the tour and decide to buy one. they will get a full refund of the tour upon purchase.

Wirral off-road have been mentioned to me. i raced with them once. i don't know of a link there as yet.

regards

Taffy

WOR have got about 4 or 5 different race series next year with a different manufacturer sponsoring each.

i know steve ireland, the WOR boss has ridden gasgas, husaberg, honda, beta, ktm i think and now sherco.

Hi Taff,

Well done mate, you've had a bit of a rough patch of late and hopefully this is the the turning point. You were talking about working with an earth moving company, I guess it'll just be moving a bit less dirt with a Sherco than with a JCB.

Cheers
Steve
