Bike Barn ???? Got a Question.

bikebarn,
i was talking with some of y'all at moab about my whiny 2002 fe650e.
i was supposed to ask for the 'mechanical man' and he might know
what gear seems to make the whiny noise for that year.
i never did get to talk about it further at moab.
does this make any sense?

One of two things, Tuts, the first is that its the counterbalancer and its drive gear, water pump gear and clutch basket lashing. ONe of many?

secondly, if your bike had its balancer upgraded, the gear profile changes slightly and created a howl. But I don't recall yours howling like some that I've seen.

Just my thoughts, and of course I could be very wrong

I believe there was a starter sprag update as well. If you mismatch those parts it will give you that whine as well.

So does anyone know if the whine is a problem. I have replaced my Clutch basket and Starter sprag and now the Berg has a whine... nothing too loud but none the less it is a whine. Should I replace the balance and crank gear as well or not worry about it ?
